POWER AND MOTION

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide instructions for the installation of support legs (Fig. 1A) on the
sofa unit attached to the HappiJac® Bed Lift.

Safety

Read and understand all instructions before installing or operating this product. Adhere to all safety labels.

Always wear eye protection when performing service, maintenance or installation procedures.
Other safety equipment to consider would be hearing protection, gloves and possibly a full face
shield, depending on the nature of the task.

Moving parts can pinch, crush or cut. Keep clear and use caution.

Support Leg Installation

1. Remove the sofa unit from the HappiJac Bed Lift and lay it flat face-down in a clean area.

2. The support legs can be adjusted, if needed. The 14-inch leg is normally installed on the seat cushion
and the backrest uses the 15-inch. The legs can be adjusted by removing the two nuts and bolts (Fig.
2A) and sliding the bottom part of the leg (Fig. 2B) in or out. Replace nuts and bolts after adjustment.

3. Find the center-point of the cushion portion of the unit (Fig. 3A). Feel for strapping under the fabric
and make a small mark between two straps that is close to both the center-point and to the inside

edge of the steel frame.

Fold the cushion support leg flat by pressing the adjustment button (Fig. 4A) and moving the leg to

one of the side holes (Fig. 4B) in the bracket.
Place the tab on the bracket end of the leg (Fig. 4C) on the measurement mark (step 3) with the leg

pointing towards center.

Make a small cut into the fabric, just beyond the inside edge the frame. The hole should be large
enough to accommodate the bracket tab (Fig. 4C). Slide the tab into the cut slot so that support leg
bracket is upright and the arms of the bracket (Fig. 5A) are resting on the seat frame.

7. " self-tapping screws (Fig. 5B).
8. Find acenter-point on the seatback between the two cushion leg brackets (Fig. 6A). Make a mark at
that point that is between the straps under the fabric and is close to the inside edge of the frame.

enough to accommodate the bracket tab. Slide the tab into the cut slot so that support leg bracket is
upright and the arms of the bracket are resting on the seat frame.

Secure the bracket to the frame with two 1 1/4" self-tapping screws.

Fold both legs down and reinstall the sofa on the HappiJac support brackets.

After the sofa is installed, lower the sofa until it is stopped by the microswitch. Make sure the legs
gently rest on the floor. Adjust the legs, if necessary.
