Replacement of wheels

It is necessary to replace all four wheels for the vehicles listed at the end of the document
in order to fulfill the customer’s vehicle order.
The new set of wheels will be supplied directly by Ferrari North America to the Dealer
where the car was purchased to complete the original vehicle order. Authorized Ferrari
Dealers will receive the list of VINs and wheel part numbers in a separate email from the
Parts Department. Please note that the wheels initlally supplied by Ferrari are property of
the customer.
Please contact the clients once the wheels arrive at your dealership.

Procedure

- IMPORTANT The serial number of each carbon wheel must be entered in the module attached to this
Technical Information. Please take note of these numbers before fitting the tires.

 Remove the tires from the wheels as described in the Workshop Manual chapter
D2.02;
 Remove the TPMS sensors from the wheels as described in the Workshop Manual
chapter F11.03;
 Refit the TPMS sensors on the new wheels as described in the Workshop Manual
chapter F11.03;
 Remount the tires on the new wheels as described in the Workshop Manual chapter
D2.02.

 The tightening torques are indicated in the workshop manual under section D1.02.
Please ensure that the torque wrench utilized is periodcally calibrated.
Guidelines for mounting and balancing tires on carbon fiber wheels
The procedure for mounting tires is similar to the procedure for aluminium wheels. Follow
the guidelines given below for balancing wheels/tires:
• mount the wheel on a conical adapter for balancing;
• apply balance weights outside the zone with thermal protection paint coating (Fig. 1,
2);

• do not use metal scraper tools or abrasive metal tools to remove adhesive residue.
• Once the carbon wheels are installed, it is necessary to install the new proxy:

- IMPORTANT Proxy uploads must be performed with the DEIS-VCI connection via cable and NOT via
Bluetooth and/or W-LAN.

Check the software number and, if necessary, update your DEIS Tester
immediately.
After updating the DEIS, the first vehicle diagnostic cycle must be performed
using a cable connection.

IMPORTANT Connect the 12V battery to a "Fronius" Acctiva Professional 35A battery charger or to
a charger that can handle lithium batteries. For instructions on the correct setting of
the Fronius battery charger with lithium batteries, see the Technical Information num.
2520.
 Connect the DEIS tester to the power unit.
 Connect the DEIS tester to the VCI interface with the specific network cable.
 Press “DEIS” to launch the diagnostic program.
 Check that the PC-Tester DEIS software is updated to the latest version.

 Click “Activities”.
 Select the activity “PROXY_CARBON_C457” then press “Next”.
 Press “Start” then perform all the steps prompted by the DEIS tester until the proxy upload
procedure has been completed successfully.
 Check that the status “CLOSED” is indicated for the activity “PROXY_CARBON_C457”, then
return to the ECU list.
 Check and clear the errors on all ECUs.
 Close the diagnostic program and disconnect the interface from the vehicle.
 Disconnect the stabilized battery charger from the vehicle.
 Check for ECU errors with the DEIS tester using the “SCAN OUT” function. Resolve any problems
that arise.
 Note: The SCAN OUT procedure is mandatory for claim approval.

- IMPORTANT At the end of the operations described above, the module attached to this Technical
Information must be correctly filled out and uploaded into the Warranty Claim.
