Summary

The purpose of this Product Upgrade Service Bulletin is to inform all REV Recreation Group dealers about the need to correct the 12-Volt patio awning circuitry and wiring on certain model year 2020 Fleetwood Flair and Holiday RamblereBay logo Admiral, Model 34 J Class A motorhomes in order for the awning switch to function with the appropriate lockouts applied. The purpose of this Upgrade Service Bulletin is to inform all REV Recreation
Group dealers about the need to correct the 12-Volt patio awning circuitry
and wiring on certain model year 2020 Fleetwood Flair and Holiday RamblereBay logo
Admiral, Model 34 J Class A motorhomes in order for the awning switch to
function with the appropriate lockouts applied.

On motorhomes affected by this Product Upgrade, the patio awning circuit
wiring may have been incorrectly wired and could be manually operated
regardless of the positioning of the ignition switch and/or parking brake.
PROCEDURES:
Dealers are required to call REV Dealer Technical Support
to obtain Prior Authorization before beginning any
work and after the unit is in their bay. You will receive
instructions and will be provided any necessary part
ordering information.

1.

Park the motorhome on dry, level pavement. Place the transmission
into PARK and set the parking brake.

2.

Turn off the ignition and remove the ignition key. Maintain control
of ignition keys while work is performed. Attach a notice “DO NOT
USE” to the ignition switch in order to prevent activation of the
systems or starting of the motorhome

3.

Block wheels to prevent movement.

4. Turn off both chassis and auxiliary battery disconnects.

WARNING

• REMOVE JEWELRY BEFORE WORKING ON ELECTRICAL CIRCUITRY.
• ENSURE THE GENERATOR IS NOT RUNNING AND ITS POWER SWITCH IS
TURNED OFF.
• DISABLE AUTO GEN START.
• ENSURE THE SHORE POWER CORD IS UNPLUGGED.
5. With the entry door open, remove the upper step
cover by removing the (2) screws from the cover
with a wide, flat blade screwdriver. Set the screws
and cover aside for reinstallation. See Figure 1.
NOTE: Pay careful attention to the following
two circuit identifications which have similar
designations but different functions:
• 003AA (white) is routed to the ignition circuit
and will be found connected to the fuse panel
located under the step cover.
• 003BB (pink) will be found in position 10 of the
12-pin connector of the harness located under
the bed.
6. With the step cover removed, locate the 4-pin
connector on the fuse panel, shown in Figure 2,
and remove it from the panel.
7. On this connector, locate the 003AA 12 gauge
ignition circuit (white wire) in Position 3 of the fourpin connector.

Cut the circuit 2” from the connector and strip 5/8”
from the ends of both the 12 gauge circuit and the
new 16 gauge jumper wire (provided in the parts
kit); twist the copper strands from the wires together
as shown in Figure 3.
8. Apply a new yellow butt connector to the twisted
wires. Take the single wire end of 003AA 12 gauge
white wire going to the connector, strip 3/8” from
its end, and connect it to the opposite end of the
yellow butt splice as shown in Figure 4, making a
3-wire splice. Wrap the connection with two layers
of electrical tape after crimping; reconnect this to
the fuse panel from where it was removed earlier.

9. Route the remaining length of the new 16 gauge loomed wire out the side of the
step well box, following along with the rest of the under-floor harness rearward down
the chassis toward the bedroom area. Be sure to route the wire through the existing
harness P-clamps. Additionally, install wire ties every 12” to secure the 16 gauge
jumper wire to the rest of the harnesses. See Figure 5.
NOTE: While routing the wiring, be sure to avoid any sharp edges and/or tight radius
bends.
10. Go inside the motorhome, raise the hinged bed
top, and remove the screws from the panel to
gain access to the area in which the main underfloor wire harness enters the coach. See Figure 6
for the access panel location.

11. Open the sealer at the hole in the unit’s floor
where the underfloor harness passes through
into the coach under the bed. The approximate
location of the hole is shown in Figure 7.
Ensure it is a large enough opening for the
single wire and loom to pass through. Continue
routing the 16 gauge jumper wire up through
the floor under the bed base.
12. Under the same access panel that has already
been removed, locate the harness and 12-pin
connector labeled “To Misc Harness Conn #5”.
See Figure 7 for a photo of the harness and
Figure 8 for an example of the label on the
harness.

13. Once the correct connection has been found,
locate the 16 gauge pink wire labeled 003BB
(printed on the wire coating) in position 10
of the 12-pin connector. See the diagram in
Figure 9.
There are two possible scenarios that you
may encounter that require correction, both of
which are illustrated in Figures 10, 11 and 12:
a) The first scenario would be that
the 003BB circuit (pink wire) has
been cut and spliced into circuit
529 (green wire). Circuit 529 will

14. Based on the scenario found, circuit 003BB (pink wire) will either need to be
disconnected from circuit 529 (green wire) or cut at the pinned connector.
a) If you disconnect the pink wire from a splice at circuit 529 (green wire), be sure that
any exposed copper wiring is appropriately wrapped and covered with electrical tape
to prevent arching.
b) If you cut circuit 003BB (pink wire) off of the pinned connector, it can be left
uncapped as there is no power feeding this circuit.

15. Strip 3/8” from the free end of circuit 003BB (pink) that was disconnected in Step 14.
Also strip 3/8” from the free end of the white 16 gauge jumper wire (Circuit 003AA)
that has been routed from the entry step. Crimp the wires together with the provided
blue butt connector. Wrap the connection with 3 half-lapped layers of electrical tape
after crimping. Refer to Figure 13.
16. Test the repair by operating the patio awning at the switch. The awning should be
able to extend with the ignition ON and the parking brake set, but should not extend
with the ignition ON and the park brake released.
17. Once proper awning operation has been verified, use silicone sealant to reseal
any areas in the entry step and under the bed base where the factory sealant was
disturbed during the wire routing process.
18. Reinstall the access panel under the bed and the entry step cover to complete the
repair. Clean up the area.
19. File a claim using flat rate code 6088-12, Inspected/Defective/Repaired.
