REVISION SUMMARY
•

Under REPAIR PROCEDURE, a step was added to include completing the Vehicle Emissions Recall - Proof of
Correction certificate.

BACKGROUND
There is a software problem in the PCM, which may cause the MIL to come on with DTC P26A3 (electric water valve
malfunction), DTC P100C (electric VTC motor speed signal circuit malfunction) and/or P0010 (variable valve timing
control [VTC] malfunction).
There are up to three updates that must be performed on applicable vehicles. Check the iN VIN status inquiry for
applicability.

Clear the DTC's and update the PGM-FI software with the latest version.

Before beginning the repair, make sure that both the i-HDS and J2534 rewrite software are updated as listed
above. Do only the update listed in this service bulletin.
You cannot apply the updates with the MVCI as a standalone tool. To update the vehicle, you must use the MVCI
interface with the J2534 Rewrite PC application on the i-HDS.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Update the PGM-FI software using the i-HDS J2534 rewrite software with the MVCI or DST-i. Refer to Service
Bulletin 01-023, Updating Control Units/Modules.
2. Fill out a Vehicle Emissions Recall - Proof of Correction certificate, and use U26 as the recall number. Have the
service advisor give the certificate to your customer, and advise him or her to keep it as proof that the recall was
completed. Your customer will need to submit this certificate to the DMV only if the DMV requests it. If you need
more certificates, use reorder number Y0657.

Check for and complete any open campaigns for this vehicle.
