Taking a screenshot for error reporting and issue investigation.
INSTRUCTIONS
Requirements:
Microsoft Office Picture Manager
Microsoft Office Outlook Email Client
Microsoft Paint
1) On Your keyboard, locate the “Print Screen” key.
It may be labeled “Prnt Scrn” or “PrtScn” and is usually located at the top-right of the keyboard.
a) For Laptops, you will most likely have to push a secondary key; you will know this by the key
having a white label and a second label in a separate color. The color label is the secondary
action of that keystroke.

This key is generally the function key; Labeled “Fn” or “Function” on most laptops.
2) To begin, have the window or application you would like to take a screenshot of active and in
front of other applications/windows.
3) Proceed by, if you must press a secondary key, holding the “Fn” key and pressing the “PrntScrn”
key once. This will take a picture of your whole desktop background.
a) If you don’t need to press a secondary key, you may take your screenshot by simply pressing
the “PrntScrn” key without any other keys pressed. This will take a picture of your whole
desktop background.
4) After pressing the Print Screen “PrntScrn” button, you will not notice anything happening; this is
because the screenshot is saved to the clipboard on the computer.
5) If you are using Microsoft Outlook as your mail client, you may paste this directly into an email.
This will send as an attachment.
a) Under composing a new email, left-click in the main body of the email.
b) Right click -> Paste.
6) Complete the email, and send. This image will not be saved to your computer, but will be visible
in the email you sent.
Saving the image for later use:
1) To save the image to your computer for editing or later use, open the image program

2) You may now simply paste into MS Office Picture Manager.
a) Right Click -> Paste
b) This will default save to a .BMP file
c) Default save location will be; My Documents -> My Pictures
3) If you do not have MS Office Picture Manager You may also you Microsoft Paint to save the
image.

4) Once in Paint You may Paste the screenshot.
a) Edit ->
b) Paste ->
5) Now save the image.

c) Name the image ->
d) Click save. Note the location in which it is saving as well as the file type.
Change this to wherever you would like to save your image to and the format in which it is saved.
Default is usually fine.
