Title: Certified Clean Idle Decals and Engine Calibration for Low NOx Idle Engines Are Now
Available with MaxxForce® 11 and 13 Engines

DESCRIPTION
The California Clean Air Regulations Board (CARB) has now certified the MaxxForce 11 and 13 engines as low
NOx idle engines. “Certified Clean Idle” decals located on the hood or drivers door are now available as
advertised options with production beginning October 5, 2009.
For engines built before October 5, 2009 a new engine calibration is available that will require the installation of the Certified Clean Idle
Decal to the left side hood or lower left driver's door and will require a revised engine emissions label (on valve cover). This Engine
calibration will only be available by request using the iRequest process as outlined below.
This calibration will allow previous Maxxforce 11 and 13 engine to idle in California and the other CARB opt in states. This will eliminate
the need for the CARB idle shut down feature -12WZC - This feature will no longer be available.
Applying this new engine calibration will disable the 12WZC CARB Compliant Idle Shut Down Timer if installed . Ask the customer prior to
requesting this calibration if they will require an Idle Shut Down Timer.
Customers who want to utilize the standard idle shut down feature 12WZE – EMISSION COMPLIANCE Federal Idle Shut Down TimerThis feature will be available by request only in conjunction with this calibration. There are multiple options for control and reset of this
feature which are outlined in this feature documentation Idle Shutdown Timer (IST).
Replacement decals may also be requested for MaxxForce 11and 13 Clean Idle Certification decals through the request process below.

12WZC Feature Code is no longer available for ProStar, 8600, 7600 and 7700 models. This feature is not needed
for those models since MaxxForce 11 and 13 engines now qualify as Low NOx Idle Engines under the CARB
ruling.
Calibration Request Procedure
1. Enter a VIN into the ISIS vehicle information page.

2. Select the iRequest tab as shown in Figure 1 below.
3. Select Launch Process for MaxxForce 11 and 13 Certified Clean Idle Calibration and Decal request
4. Fill out the request form and submit.
5. After approval of the request a Certified Clean Idle Decal and Engine Emission decal will be shipped Next Day Air to your Dealer
location.
6. Once verification of shipping the calibration will be applied to the Engine Serial number in NETS.
7. Use NETS to program the new calibration into the engine.
8. Apply the Certified Clean Idle Decal to either the left side of the hood or lower left drivers door. ( follow instructions for decal application
on the rear of the decal)
9. Replace the engine emission decal on the valve cover with the decal shipped.
10. Decals must by installed with the calibration. DO NOT apply this calibration without applying the decals.
