Title: VT 365 Cylinder Head Identification - Remanufactured Cylinder Head TSI 071204
Applies To: VT 365 Engines
DESCRIPTION
Two different cylinder heads were used in production on the International VT 365 diesel engine. A Cylinder Head Reman Kit, 1876340C91, has
been introduced that will work for most 2002 to 2005 model year International VT 365 diesel engines.
Use the following procedure to identify the correct kit when replacing the cylinder head. If just replacing the cylinder head gasket, use the Head
Gasket and Bolt Kit Identification table

CAUTION:
To prevent engine damage, do not mix early production series cylinder head parts with late production series cylinder head
parts.

CAUTION:
To prevent engine damage, if servicing both engine banks, do not mix cylinder head parts between left and right banks. The
same engine might have two different cylinder heads.

1. Check the injector clamp hold down bolts. Determine if the bolt heads are T40 or T45.
a. If injector clamp hold down bolt heads are identified as T40, do one of the following:



Go to step 2 for an additional method of identifying the correct kit using rocker arm carrier hold down bolt size and location.



Go to step 3 for kit selection instructions using the cylinder head casting part number.

b. If the injector clamp hold down bolt heads are identified as T45, obtain the cylinder head kit, 1832716C92.

2. Check the rocker arm carrier assembly. Determine if the carrier hold down bolts are M10 or M8, and determine the hold down bolt orientation.
a. If the rocker arm carrier assembly hold down bolts are M8 and located like Figure 2 or 3, go to step 3.
b. If the rocker arm carrier assembly hold down bolts are M10 and located like Figure 4, obtain the cylinder head kit, 1832716C92.
NOTE: The reman cylinder head in the kit may be configured with either the eight M8 bolt holes or two M8 bolt holes. Only two M8
bolts in the top two holes are required for rocker arm carrier hold down. The other six bolts may be discarded

3. Check the cylinder head casting for the casting part number .
a. If the injector clamp hold down bolts are identified as T40 or the rocker arm carrier assembly bolts are identified as M8, and the casting part
number is 1843080C4, obtain the cylinder head reman kit, 1876340C91.
b. If the injector clamp hold down bolts are identified as T45 or the rocker arm carrier assembly bolts are identified as M10, and the casting
part number is 1855613C1, obtain the cylinder head kit, 1832716C92.
c. If the injector clamp hold down bolt heads are identified as T40 or the rocker arm carrier assembly bolts are identified as M8, and the
casting part number is 1855613C1, obtain the cylinder head reman kit, 1876340C91.
