PROCEDURE

DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition
switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter
type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position.
Lock out & Tag out (LOTO) must be performed during set-up, maintenance or repair activities. Refer to
your local procedure for detailed information regarding the control of hazardous energy.

1. Remove the auxiliary fan from the rearmost parcel rack (WCL side).
−

Unscrew the fan shroud from the floor of the parcel rack.

−

If the parcel rack is equipped with a door, disconnect the door shock.

−

Remove the parcel rack end cover.

−

Disconnect the fan.

−

Install a new end cover (without fan opening).

NOTE
New end cover must be ordered separately, part number will vary depending on specific vehicle options.
Refer to the optional material list at the beginning of this procedure.

Reinstall the shock if so equipped.

−

Remove the auxiliary fan from the shroud (discard shroud).

2. Remove the WCL overhead console.
−

Flip the WCL seats and slide them rearward to ease access to the components.

−

Remove both console halogen lights (unclip the plastic rings then disconnect the lamps).

−

Unscrew the WCL detector module from the console (4 screws).

−

Remove the console front & middle screws and lower front part of the console to access the
connectors behind it.

−

Disconnect the speakers, LED lights and push buttons connectors.

−

Remove the two console rear screws and the central screw to move the console out of the way.

3. Remove the parcel rack cover behind the WCL seats.
−

Unscrew the two cover front screws, the two lower screws and the rear screw (close to the
window pillar).

−

Also remove the screw hidden inside the cover/parcel rack, holding the cover inner edge to the
parcel rack.

−

Cut the cable tie holding the harness to the cover, remove red sheathing tape & pull down
carefully to remove the cover (disengage the harness through the “sliced” part of the cover).

4. Route the extension harness from the rear up to the WCL area.
−

Pass a flexible steel rod or a fish tape inside the molding under the parcel rack floor.

−

Exit the fish tape at the fan shroud opening in the last parcel rack.

−

Connect the 0610197 extension harness to the previously disconnected fan connector inside the
fan shroud opening. Secure the other end of the harness to the fish tape.

−

Pull out the extension harness.

−

Install the 310016 stainless block-off plate (closure) to cover the fan shroud opening in the last
parcel rack. Use the supplied 500120 metal screws (drilling of new holes may be necessary).

5. Secure the auxiliary fan in the parcel rack cover.
−

Secure the fan to the new 370001 mounting bracket using the supplied 500539 nuts and 502799
screws (fan goes under the bracket as shown).

WARNING
Make sure that the fan orientation is correct!
The arrow on the side of the fan must be pointing down.

−

Install the supplied 506466 foam tape on the fan bracket tabs (apply two strips along both edges,
cut excess as required).

−

Install the precut 370002 foam around the fan body (take note of the foam notch orientation).

−

Insert the fan assembly in the parcel rack cover until it bottoms out (the assembly must sit flat at
the bottom and be leveled as much as possible).

−

Predrill the five fan bracket screw holes in the cover.

−

Bring back the fan cover in the vehicle and reinsert the harness (removed in step 3) by sliding it
through the sliced part of the cover.

−

Reinsert the fan assembly in the parcel rack cover & secure the fan assembly using five of the
supplied 500120 screws.

−

Connect the fan to the harness extension & reseal the seams inside the cover using foil tape.

6. Reinstall the parcel rack cover/fan assembly.
−

Put the cover back in place making sure that the fan harness/extension is inserted in the parcel
rack lower trim (route excess extension length inside the trim as req.).

−

Reinstall the cover starting with the rear screw (window pillar area), secure the center part to the
parcel rack (center screw) & reinstall the front and lower cover screws.

−

Reapply tape as required (use foil tape or red sheathing tape) to seal the cover from the parcel
rack compartment.

−

Secure the harness to the roof using nylon cable ties (reuse cable tie mount on the roof).

7. Reinstall the WCL overhead console.
−

Secure the console panel to the structure with the two back (window) screws.

−

Reconnect the speakers, LED lights and push buttons connectors.

−

Install the remaining center & front console panel screws (pass detector module through opening
first).

−

Connect & clip in place the two halogen lamps.

−

Reinstall the WCL detector module.

8. Modify the electrical circuit to keep the fans on high speed (Optional – Customer request).
−

Remove the side plastic panels covering the blower assembly harness (both sides of the
vehicles).

−

On both sides of the vehicle, locate & disconnect the harness connector (cut cable tie holding it).
Connectors are numbered Mo10 (left side) and Mo11 (right side).

−

At the back of the connector, extract the orange wire located at position # 2 (center of the lower
row).

−

Reinsert the wire at the # 4 position.

NOTE

Cavities are numbered in small print on the connector.
Extract using Prevost Extractor Tool # #682257 or equivalent AMP 1804030-1 tool.
