Complaint - Service Interval Cannot be Written: Activating Automatic time sync in the PCM

Information:

The service interval cannot be written successfully using the PIWIS Tester during vehicle
handover.

The date stored in the instrument cluster at the factory can be a date in the past.
As a result, if the next service interval would also be in the past when writing the service interval, the
process cannot be completed successfully.

Remedial
Action:

First, change the system time to "Automatic time sync" in the PCM and then write the service interval
again using the PIWIS Tester.

Tools:

9900 - PIWIS Tester 3 with installed PIWIS Tester software version 38.500.025 (or higher)
Battery charger with a current rating of at least 90 A, e.g. VAS 5908 - Battery charger 90A

Changing system time and setting service interval
Work Procedure: 1

Change the system time to "Automatic time sync" using the PCM.
1.1

Navigate to the menu CAR  CONTROL  System  Date and time in the PCM.

1.2

Tick "Automatic time sync (Synchronize time, date and daylight saving time with
GPS signal)".

1.3

Make sure that the vehicle has got a GPS signal and that the current date was set correctly.

Information
If automatic synchronization is not possible, the date and time can also be set manually using the
PCM before writing the service interval.

Write the service interval using the PIWIS Tester in accordance with the instructions in  Workshop
Manual '0X01IN Diagnostic system: Performing vehicle handover'.
