TRANSMISSION / DRIVE SYSTEM
Manual Transmission Discontinued
Manual transmission (5 M/T) has been discontinued for all 2020 Outlander Sport.
Improved 4WD Control Logic
All models equipped with All Wheel Control (AWC) now have an improved 4WD control logic that
protects the drivetrain by suppressing heat generation of the electronic-control coupling in certain
conditions.
HVAC SYSTEM
A/C Blower Fan Change
Brushless
blower motor
Blower Fan Changed to Brushless Motor Type
Standard for all 2020 Outlander Sport the blower
fan has been changed from a brush motor to a
brushless motor for more efficient operation.
This change is in compliance with the CAFÉ
regulation in North America and features:

Reduced blower motor weight.

Reduced power consumption at peak load.
NOTE: There are no changes to maintenance
procedures with the new blower motor.

HVAC SYSTEM (continued)
New Refrigerant (R1234yf) and IHX Plumbing
To comply with upcoming refrigerant regulations, R1234yf has been adopted for all 2020 Outlander
Sport models. In addition, new A/C plumbing with an internal heat exchanger (IHX) has been
adopted to comply with the CAFÉ regulation in North America. The IHX works together with the new
refrigerant, R1234yf, to reduce effects on the environment and improve HVAC system efficiency.
