ANTENNA DIAGNOSTIC KIT INFORMATION

SERVICE INFORMATION
An Antenna Diagnostic Kit service tool has been released (see Figure 1 on the next page). It is essential to
assist technicians with troubleshooting antennas if a customer states a concern about
radio static, loss of audio reception, reception fades in and out, or map showing the wrong location.
This special tool kit is composed of known good antennas, which can be connected to the audio head unit to
help determine if a faulty antenna component is related to the audio system loss of reception complaint. It is
intended to help technicians confirm if antenna issues are present and to potentially find a root cause for the
concern without removing
the headliner to help avoid unnecessary, costly, and complex audio component replacements.
The J-51782 Antenna Diagnostic Kit is a universally applicable tool equipped with adapters for use during
service procedures on GPS, AM/FM, Satellite Radio, and other applications.
Common customer concerns related to each antenna type:


GPS - Map shows wrong location position, clock does not display correct time when set to “Auto Clock
Mode”



AM/FM - Static, loss of reception, reception fading in and out



SXM Satellite Radio - Loss of reception, a message stating “No Signal”, a message stating “Check
Antenna”
