DESCRIPTION
Harness #7770134 is designed to bypass the Engine Compartment Harness (Prevost part). It
connects between two Detroit Diesel harnesses that are the DPF harness (10-pin connector)
and the Engine Harness (31-pin connector).
Harness #7770134 may prevent replacing the complete Engine Compartment Harness
depending on the issue. Usually the issue is engine shutting down due to DPF temperature
spike. A “high exhaust temperature” diagnostic troubleshooting code may be present.

PROCEDURE
DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. Prior to working on the vehicle, set the ignition
switch to the OFF position and trip the main circuit breakers equipped with a trip button. On Commuter
type vehicles, set the battery master switch (master cut-out) to the OFF position.
Lock out & Tag out (LOTO) must be performed during set-up, maintenance or repair activities. Refer to
your local procedure for detailed information regarding the control of hazardous energy.

DPF HARNESS
1. Locate connector A74 (10-pin) of the DPF harness.
2. On the A74 connector half found at the end of the engine
compartment harness, extract circuits 505, 506, 507, 508, 511,
512, 513, 514.
Terminal extraction
1) Remove the PLR. Pull from the posts.
2) Use extraction tool (or small screwdriver) to remove the
terminals.
3) Slightly lift the plastic lock tab in the cavity while pulling on
the wire to remove the terminal out of the rear of the
connector housing.

3. Replace with circuits 505, 506, 507, 508, 511, 512, 513, 514 of
the bypass harness #7770134. See the pin-out table at right.

4. Locate connector A73.J1 (31-pin MCM pigtail) of the engine
harness.
5. On the A73.J1 connector half found at the end of the engine
compartment harness, extract circuits 505, 506, 507, 508,
511, 512, 513, 514.

6. Replace with circuits 505, 506, 507, 508, 511, 512, 513, 514
of the bypass harness #7770134. See the pin-out table at
right.

FINAL STEP
7. Protect all the original circuits from corrosion using good
quality adhesive-lined heat shrink tubing. Appropriately
secure the harness with nylon ties.
8. Check that there are no related DTC’s. You may use DDDL
software if available.
