Details
The software for the engine control advances the ignition angle by up to 10° during certain load conditions and engine
speeds starting at approx.14,200 RPM. This is due to a faulty ignition angle output, The cylinder-specific knock control
works correctly. Nevertheless, excessive wear can occur over the long term due to the high thermal load in the engine
at these speeds.
Vehicles affected
In order to determine if a specific vehicle is affected by this Technical Campaign, it will be necessary to verify all
VIN’s through AIR (Aftersales Information Research). Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the
repair or take no further action. Please note, VIN’s in DCS Vehicle History Check may not appear until 24-72 hours
after the release of this bulletin, therefore AIR is the recommended method for determining open campaigns.
Production Solution
As of 08/01/2019, vehicles will be delivered with the correct engine control software.
Service Solution
Update affected vehicles software using ISTA version 4.18.1x to I level K001-19-07-500 or higher before delivery or during the next workshop visit. It is essential that the I level is mentioned in the final report

NOTICE
Because the programming time of the S 1000 RR with TFT Display remains very long at this time, a flat rate amount
of an additional 6 flat rate units can be billed using FRU Number 00 60 698.
