CREASES/RIPPLES IN THE 2ND ROW 60/40 BENCH SEAT
BACKREST SYNTHETIC LEATHER COVER

Vehicles produced from July 2018 thru March 1, 2019 with the 60/40 split 2nd row bench seat
Equipped with Synthetic leather Interior:
 Vernasca (option MAH9, MCEW, MCHE, MCHF, MCRI, MCSW) or
 Merino (option VAEW, VAHF, VASW, VATQ)

SITUATION
There are creases/ripples in the leather upholstery of the upper part of the backrest for the 2nd row of
seats. This only applies to the 60/40 bench seat.

CAUSE
To address customer complaints that the leather was too tight & uncomfortable on previous models,
the G05 and G07 incorporate a looser fit of the leather to improve long distance driving comfort.
However, in this particular area of these seats, the leather was cut slightly oversize. This excess
material can cause creases and ripples.

CORRECTION

Install a layer of foam in this one area of the seat(s). To repair both sides of the 2nd row seat you will
need 2 pieces of the foam.

PROCEDURE
Check if the looseness in this area exists as per these images.
If YES then continue thru this bulletin.

Remove 2nd row seat backrest(s) according to repair instructions:
- Remove and install/ replace right backrest 52 26 012
- Remove and install/replace left rear seat backrest 52 26 011
- Remove and install/replace backrest side section on left or right rear seat backrest 52 26 008
Seat(s) should be placed on a clean flat workspace and protected using a soft blanket to prevent
damage.
Disassemble the plastic trim (left side) in 5
locations.

Disassemble the plastic trim (right side) in 4
locations.

Release the plastic section from the metal
structure.
Start on the side with the lock.
Use a large screwdriver WITHOUT sharp edges
or a plastic bone tool to separate the structure.

Roll the upholstery carefully over the corners.
Start on the side with the lock.
Carefully roll the upholstery into the position
indicated.

Lay the additional foam part over the existing
one and push the outer corners under the
upholstery in a crease-free manner.
The new foam part has identical contours.

Note: Do NOT glue the foam part!

Roll the cover backwards over the inserted foam
part.
DO NOT PULL the cover!
Start on the inside and then the side with the
lock.

Insert the plastic section into the metal
structure.
Start in the corners. Observe the sequence in
the image.
Press the profile strip into the duct of the metal
structure (pre-fix).
Then insert the profile strip into the duct of the
metal structure using a plastic hammer.
If necessary, place a chock on the profile strip
so that this is not damaged by tapping it in.
Check the front side of the leather upholstery
and smooth out the cover again.

Remount all plastic trims.
No tool required.

Remount the headrests in the vehicle according to the repair instructions.

Invoice this work (the labor portion only) on the repair order at the actual cost charged with no
handling or markup. The sublet amount must also include any discounts or allowances.
Prior to having the third-party perform this repair, determine the appropriate charge for performing the
“necessary repair-related work procedures” by comparing their estimated repair cost against the
corresponding amount that is based on your warranty rates.
It is your center’s responsibility to review the estimate to ensure the amount requested for
perform this repair work is customary, fair and reasonable. Also, it must not exceed the scope
of the repair work that is described in this bulletin.
