customer delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform
the procedure the next time the vehicle is in the shop.

SERVICE ACTION: N63T ENGINE - CHECK AND REPLACE
THE CRANKCASE VENTILATION HOSES
This Service Information bulletin replaces SI B11 12 16 dated April 2017.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves F01, F02, F06, F07, F10, F12, F13, F01 B7, F02 B7, and F06 B6
vehicles produced from March, 2012 to August, 2014.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either
in AIR, the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.

SITUATION
The crankcase ventilation hoses may become brittle and break when they come in contact with hot
engine components.

CAUSE
One or more of the crankcase ventilation hoses are not FPM (fluoroelastomer) rubber material. The
FPM rubber material is engine heat resistant.
Or
The plastic corrugated hoses are not fitted with the self-locking spacers. The self-locking spacers
maintain an air gap between the hoses and the hot engine components.

CORRECTION
Inspect and if necessary replace the crankcase ventilation hoses.

PROCEDURE
1. Remove the acoustic engine cover as per repair instruction 11 00 … “Removing and Installing
Acoustic Cover”.

FPM rubber material hoses are shown.
Turbochargers (2).

2. Inspect the crankcase ventilation hoses. If
the hoses are constructed of the FPM
material (1) then take no further action and
reassemble the vehicle.
The FPM material will appear to be a
smooth rubber hose material.
For clarity the hoses are pictured removed
from the engine. Do not remove the hoses
to make the inspection.
Or
If the crankcase ventilation hoses are
constructed of a plastic corrugated material
(1) then the pipes must have all three of the
self-locking spacers (2).
If these hoses have all three self-locking
spacers (2) then take no further action and
reassemble the vehicle.
For clarity the hoses are pictured removed
from the engine. Do not remove the hoses
to make the inspection.
Or

If the crankcase ventilation hoses are
constructed of a plastic corrugated material
(1) and the hoses do not have any of the
self-locking spacers.
Replace both hoses.
For clarity the hoses are pictured removed
from the engine. Do not remove the hoses
to make the inspection.

Or
If the crankcase ventilation hoses are
constructed of a plastic corrugated material
and any of the three self-locking spacers (1)
are missing from the ventilation hoses.
Only one self-locking spacer is present (1).
Replace both hoses.
For clarity the hoses are pictured removed
from the engine. Do not remove the hoses
to make the inspection.

Or
If the crankcase ventilation hoses are
constructed of a plastic corrugated material
and any of the three self-locking spacers (1)
are missing from the ventilation hoses.
Only two self-locking spacers are present
(1).
Replace both hoses.
For clarity the hoses are pictured removed
from the engine. Do not remove the hoses
to make the inspection.

Performing a part number look-up in ETK (EPC) by VIN or model in place of using/invoicing the
