Cullinan (RR31) A-Pillar Rivet Check – Water Ingress
Situation:

A number of Rolls-Royce Cullinan (RR31) vehicles have been identified as having a potential problem concerning the
riveted section of the A-Pillar, where the rivet hole has an excessive gap and has not been sealed sufficiently. This
could allow water ingress that may migrate into the sill. Therefore, this area needs to be checked on both the right
hand & left hand side of the vehicle and if required apply sealant to the affected areas.
All vehicles that have been identified within this Campaign will need to have the left and right hand A-Pillar checked
and if necessary apply an approved sealant to the affected area.
Dealers should check for vehicles which are subject to this Technical Campaign using ISPA (Integrated Service
Processes Application) or S-Gate.
Procedure:

Follow ISTA REP 51 31 023 ‘Removing and installing left or right gutter strip’ on windscreen and remove both front
windscreen drip mouldings for inspection of the A-Pillar rivets. NEW
Please note single use parts indicated
below!

Perform an inspection of the
visible area of the A-Pillar
rivets, as shown in the above
photo.
In total, 14 x rivets must be
inspected (7 x left hand, 7 x
right hand)
The windscreen
must not be removed to
perform the inspection.

If there is a visible gap between the rivet
head and panel it must be filled to
prevent the risk of water ingress.
Ensure surface is dry and cleaned with an
appropriate cleaning solution.
Use Sikaflex 221 (81 22 9407533) to fill
the gap.

Suitable protection must be used
to protect painted surfaces of the
A-Pillar.

No further action is required if there is no
visible gap or the gap has already been
filled around the rivet head.

Once the inspection and/or repair has been performed re-install the drip moulding following ISTA REP 51 31 023
and renew clips and grommets. Please note: The drip mouldings do not need to be replaced and the ISTA work
instruction is currently in progress of being updated to reflect this.
