Altec Industries, Inc. has developed a product improvement which relates to certain AT37M/P, AT41M/P,
AT48M/P, and TDA58 Units.
Refer to SIL 717 for items covered under the warranty policy. Altec will supply necessary parts to correct
this condition.
In order to determine if your unit is affected by SIL 717, compare the serial number of your unit with the list
of affected units as described on the SIL. The product improvement can be performed by the customer or
you may contact Altec at 1-877-GO-ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) for further assistance.
At any time, you may contact Altec at 1-877 GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) with your unit’s serial
number to determine if there are any other outstanding notices.
If you have sold or retired the unit please call Altec at 1-877-GO-ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) so the
records may be changed.

Electrical Hazard Placard Replacement
Altec is committed to providing our customers reliable products from initial delivery throughout the useful life of the machine.
Altec discovered that placards placed on the affected units explaining electrical hazards at the
platform and on the turntable may be confusing. The placards originally installed can make
the upper boom extension requirement for dielectric performance unclear. Altec has a
replacement placard that explains the hazards clearly.
Altec strongly recommends that each unit be inspected for the correct placards no later than
30 days after the receipt of this SIL using the Inspection Procedure beginning on Page 2. If the
placards do not meet the specifications, order a replacement placard kit 990868229 and
replace the originals as soon as the replacement is received.
This repair is covered under the Altec Warranty Policy and can be performed by Altec, the
customer, or the customer’s warranty provider. Altec will perform the repair for free at an
Altec facility. If the customer, or the customer’s warranty provider performs the repair, a
warranty claim must be submitted to be reimbursed for the cost of the parts and/or labor. Altec
will allow up to $45 for the labor to perform this repair. There is no warranty reimbursement
for the inspection. Call 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) to schedule the work to be done
by an Altec service technician. Customers are responsible for the travel costs of an Altec
Mobile Service technician if the technician performs the inspection or repair at the owner’s
location.

Inspection Procedure
Read and understand all steps of the instructions before beginning the procedure.
1. Position the unit on a level surface, apply the parking brake and chock the wheels.
2. Inspect the electrical hazard placard at the lower control station (refer to Figure 1) and
copy down the part number on the lower right corner of the placard.

3. Inspect the electrical hazard placard at the upper control station (refer to Figure 2) and
copy down the part number on the lower right corner of the placard.

4. Compare the two part numbers from the lower and upper control stations.

5. If the unit has ISO booms, both placards must be part number 970297229 (refer to Figure
3 and 4).
Units without ISO booms, both placards must be 067040362.

6. If the placards are the same part number and are correct for the type of unit, the inspection
is over and no further action is required.
7. If the placards are different part numbers or are not correct for the unit boom type, order
kit part number 990868229 containing two placards .
8. Complete the inspection form at the end of this SIL and return it to Altec.
