4000 Series – Proactive Replacement – C3 Clutch Housing and C3 Bonded Piston

Introduction:

Allison Transmission has identified a potential quality issue related to the C3 Clutch Housing and resulting factory

installation of the C3 Bonded Piston in certain 4000 Series transmissions. As a result, this Field Action is being

initiated to proactively replace those two components in select transmissions. The subject condition is not

applicable to the C4 Clutch Housing or C4 Bonded Piston.

This Field Action is limited to eligible transmissions detailed in Table 1. The removal and replacement of the

transmission may be performed by Authorized Dealers or Distributors, but replacement of the internal components

must be performed by a shop authorized to overhaul 4000 Series transmissions. Coordination of work between

shops to minimize the customer’s downtime will be the responsibility of the service channel members involved.
