WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY
To avoid injury from hot surfaces, wear protective gloves, or allow engine to cool before removing
any component.
1. Shut off the engine, apply the parking brake, chock the wheels, and perform any other applicable safety steps.
2. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) hot pipe. Refer to section "Removal of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation
Hot Pipe".
3. Remove the mixer pipe. Refer to section "Removal of the Mixer Pipe".
4. Install special tool W470589019100 onto the hot side inlet of the EGR cooler.
5. Install special tool DSN930E16002 into the connecting boot of the EGR venturi as shown below. Using existing
clamp, torque from 3.0 to 3.5 N·m (26.5 to 31 lb·in.).
6. Using regulator from kit J-41473, J-47192 or J-48710, apply 207 kPa (30 psi) regulated air pressure to the EGR
cooler. Close the valve and disconnect the air supply.
7. Spray a soapy water mixture around both inlet and outlet connections at the EGR cooler. Verify no bubbles are coming
from the tool connections.
8. Wait two minutes and record the air gauge reading. There should be no drop in pressure. If the EGR cooler water
manifold assembly is leaking, it should be replaced. Refer to section "Removal of the DD13 Exhaust Gas
Recirculation Cooler Water Manifold Assembly".
