DESCRIPTION
Daimler Trucks North America LLC has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle
safety, exists in specific motorhomes built on Freightliner chassis (NHTSA # 18V 582 ). In
response, Newmar is releasing NHTSA # 19V 426.
ISSUE
On certain motorhomes the rear marker, brake, or left turn lights may cease to function while
driving.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Rear power distribution modules will be tested and replaced as needed by DTNA (Freightliner).
UNITS AFFECTED
Refer to the attached population list for specific VIN numbers supplied by DTNA.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
DTNA will provide the work instructions and any parts necessary.
CUSTOMER ACTION
Contact Daimler Trucks North America @ 800-547-0712 to locate a Qualified Service Center near
you. If you need further assistance, contact the Newmar service department at 1-800-731-8300. A
brand specialist will assist you in scheduling an appointment to have this repair completed.

Contact the Freightliner Customer Support Center at 1-800-FTL-HELP (1-800-385-4357), and follow
the prompts, or visit https://freightliner.com/dealer-search/ to locate an authorized DTNA service
center to schedule and perform the recall near you. If you need assistance contacting DTNA, contact
your Newmar Service Account Manager.
NOTE
Newmar will not be authorizing this repair. DTNA will authorize and schedule this repair.

This notice is sent to you as a Newmar Dealer in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and
Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety,
exists in specific Newmar recreational vehicles.
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act requires that each vehicle, which is subject to a recall campaign
of this type, must be satisfactorily repaired within a reasonable time after the owner has tendered it for repair. A
failure to adequately repair within 60 days after tender of a vehicle is prima facie evidence of failure to repair
within a reasonable time. To avoid providing these problematic solutions, every effort must be made to promptly
schedule an appointment with each owner and to repair their vehicle as soon as possible. Vehicle owners are being
notified of this recall. If the condition is not remedied within a reasonable time, they are instructed on how to
contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Federal regulations require that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notification must forward a copy of this
notice to the lessee within ten days.
If you have had the repair performed before receiving this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for

Distribution Module (PDM). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly.
Safety Risk:
Brake lights or turn signals that do not work could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is
braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their motorhome to a
DTNA authorized service facility to inspect and repair the PDM as necessary.
The motorhomes require immediate service. Continued use poses a potential safety hazard.

MOTIF DU PRÉSENT RAPPEL
Newmar Corporation a déterminé qu’il existe une défaillance relevant de la sécurité automobile dans certaines
autocaravanes montées sur châssis Freightliner. Nous procédons à ce rappel en raison de renseignements que
Daimler Trucks North America LLC nous a fournis.
Problème :
Certaines autocaravanes montées sur châssis Freightliner XBS pourraient rencontrer un problème au niveau du
module de distribution de puissance (MDP) fixé à l’arrière. Ce problème pourrait entraîner un mauvais
fonctionnement des feux arrière.
Risque en matière de sécurité :
Un mauvais fonctionnement des feux de freinage ou des clignotants pourrait empêcher un automobiliste qui suit
le véhicule de reconnaître que ce dernier freine ou a l’intention de tourner. Les risques d’accident pourraient être
plus élevés.
Mesures correctives :
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) avisera les propriétaires par courrier et leur demandera d’apporter leur
autocaravane dans un centre de service autorisé pour MDP afin de faire vérifier leur MDP et de le faire réparer au
besoin.
Il est impératif que les réparations sur ces autocaravanes soient effectuées immédiatement. Le fait de continuer
à utiliser le véhicule entraîne un risque d’accident.

Daimler Trucks North America LLC fournira aux propriétaires de toutes les autocaravanes concernées une solution
