The code occurs when the cut-off is commanded to 100% and the compensation pressure is
greater than 655 kPa (95 psi).
115.4.1
CHECK FOR HIGH DOSER FUEL LINE PRESSURE
Check as follows:
1. Shut off the engine, apply the parking brake, chock the wheels, and perform any other
applicable safety steps.
2. Is SPN 4077/FMI 14 also present (active or inactive)?
[a]
Yes; repair SPN 4077/FMI 14 first. Refer to section 115.4.1.1.
[b]
No; go to step 3.
3. Is SPN 3480/FMI 14 also present (active or inactive)?
[a]
Yes; repair SPN 3480/FMI 14 first. Refer to section 115.4.1.1.
[b]
No; go to step 4.
4. Is SPN 3480/FMI 31 also present (active or inactive)?
[a]
Yes; repair SPN 3480/FMI 31 first. Refer to section 115.4.1.1.
[b]
No; go to step 5.
5. Are there any fuel system faults present?
[a]
Yes; repair these faults first. Refer to section 115.4.1.1.

PERSONAL INJURY
Diesel engine exhaust and some of its constituents are
known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth
defects, and other reproductive harm.
□ Always start and operate an engine in a well ventilated
area.
□ If operating an engine in an enclosed area, vent the
exhaust to the outside.
□ Do not modify or tamper with the exhaust system or
emission control system.
PERSONAL INJURY
To avoid injury before starting and running the engine,
ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, parking
brake is set, and the wheels are blocked.
PERSONAL INJURY
To avoid injury from inhaling engine exhaust, always
operate the engine in a well-ventilated area.
Engine
exhaust is toxic.
6. Start the engine.
PERSONAL INJURY
During parked regeneration the exhaust gases will be
extremely HOT and could cause a fire if directed at
combustible materials.
The vehicle must be parked
outside.
7. Measure the priming port pressure at 600 rpm (idle) and at 1800 rpm. Specification is
448 to 517 kPa (65 to 75 psi) at 600 rpm and 586 to 655 kPa (85 to 95 psi) at 1800 rpm.
Are the priming pressures within range?
[a]
Yes; using DiagnosticLink®, perform a High Idle Regen. Go to step 8.
[b]
No; replace overflow valve and Refer to section 115.4.1.1.

8. Review regen log file. Is fuel compensation pressure above 655 kPa (95 psi)?
[a]
Yes; inspect doser line for kinks or HC doser injector for blockage. Go to step 9.
[b]
No; replace fuel compensation pressure sensor.
9. Was the doser line kinked or HC doser injector blocked?
[a]
Yes; repair as necessary. Refer to section 115.4.1.1.
[b]
No; replace doser block. Refer to section 115.4.1.1.

Verify Repairs
Verify repairs as follows:
1. Turn ignition OFF.
2. Reconnect any electrical connections that were disconnected to perform the diagnosis.
3. Clear all code(s) using DDDL 7.X.
4. Start and bring the engine up to operating temperature (60°C [140°F]) or run engine for
two minutes.
5. Verify operation is satisfactory and no warning lamps illuminate. If warning lamps
illuminate, troubleshoot the codes. If assistance is required, contact the Detroit Diesel
Customer Support Center (800–445–1980).
