This repair is the same as Service Action SA-19-1256. Use this Quarantine Notice for vehicles that are
not registered and have not been given to a Customer.
Some vehicles in the affected VIN list for this Quarantine Notice may now be registered and given to a
Customer. Make sure that you do a check of the Online Dealer Warranty (ODW) database to make sure
that all necessary work is done to every vehicle.

Reason for this Quarantine Notice
The Parking Assistance Module (PAM) on some Rapide AMR vehicles is set incorrectly. This can cause the rear parking
sensors to make a constant sound when the vehicle is in reverse. It can also cause a blind spot behind the vehicle.

Workshop Procedure
CAUTION:

CONNECT A BATTERY CHARGER TO THE VEHICLE BATTERY DURING THE PROCEDURE THAT
FOLLOWS. IF THE VEHICLE BATTERY DISCHARGES DURING THE PROCEDURE, THE
SOFTWARE UPDATE CAN FAIL. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL
MODULE (TCM).
CONNECT THE AMDS 2.68 EQUIPMENT TO AN ELECTRICAL SUPPLY WHEN YOU DO THE
PROCEDURE THAT FOLLOWS. IF THE LAPTOP BATTERY VOLTAGE DECREASES DURING THE
UPDATE, THE UPDATE CAN FAIL AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MODULE.

Note:

Make sure that the AMDS 2.68 software has updated to the latest version. The AMDS 2.68 software will
need a good Internet connection (minimum broadband speed of 2 Mbit/second) to make sure that the
software is updated correctly.

1.

Set the ignition to ON but do not start the engine.

2.

Connect the Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) to the ODB II port on the vehicle.
Note: The correct port is on the driver’s side of the vehicle.

3.

Start the AMDS software and connect to the vehicle.

4.

Make sure that the vehicle information is correct.

13. Set the ignition to OFF.
