CONDITION SUMMARY:

SITUATION:
The transmission may exhibit a harsh 4th-to-5th gear shift at speeds between 30-50 km/h and, in
certain cases, the harsh gear shift may be accompanied by a transmission warning message on the
Instrument Cluster (IC). Upon further diagnosis, DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) P07D4-07 and/or
P07DF-07 may be stored in the Transmission Control Module (TCM).
CAUSE:
This may be caused by a TCM software issue.
ACTION:
Should a customer express this concern, refer to the Service Instruction and then follow the Diagnostic
Procedure(s) below.

SERVICE INSTRUCTION:

Verify that the automatic transmission fluid is at the correct level and any leaks are rectified
(see TOPIx Workshop Manual section 311-01: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - General
Procedures - Transmission Fluid Level Check).

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE:

CAUTIONS:
A Jaguar Land Rover-approved battery power supply must be connected to the vehicle
startup battery.
All ignition ON/OFF requests MUST be performed; failure to do these steps may cause
damage to vehicle control modules.

NOTE:
Use the Jaguar Land Rover claims submission system for Field Service Action program eligibility
requiring a Transmission Control Module (TCM) software update. If eligible, perform and claim
the update as per that program using the latest PATHFINDER software.

Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved battery power supply to the vehicle startup battery.

NOTE:
The Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic equipment must be loaded with
PATHFINDER version 222 (or later).
Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic equipment to the vehicle and begin a
new session.

NOTE:
The Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic equipment will read the correct Vehicle
Identification Number (VIN) for the current vehicle and automatically take the vehicle
out of Transit mode (if required).
Follow all on-screen instructions.

Select ECU Diagnostics.

Select Transmission Control Module [TCM].

Select Update ECU.
1 Follow the on-screen instructions until the application finishes successfully.

7

Exit the current session.
1 If required, reset the vehicle to Transit mode.
2 Select the Exit icon.
