Commercial Electronic Controls 2 (CEC2) Transmission (T) Wiring Harness Connector Strain

Relief Color Change
MODELS AFFECTED:
All 5000, 6000, 8000, and 9000 Series Transmissions utilizing CEC2 Controls
Introduction:

A color change has been made to the CEC2 controls Transmission (T) wiring harness strain relief. Due to a change

in component availability, service replacement CEC2 transmission wiring harness assemblies available through

Allison Transmission no longer utilize a blue strain relief on the Transmission (T) connector to the TCM. Affected

wiring harness assemblies now have a gray strain relief; no other changes have been made to the wiring harness

assemblies. The keyed Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) connectors continue to maintain their color coding. Only

the part numbers listed in Table 1 are affected by this change.

Serviceability:

Fit and function of the connector is not affected by this change. However, because the strain relief for both the

Vehicle (V) connector and Transmission (T) connector are gray, it is required to use the TPA connector to identify

the correct connection location at the TCM (refer to Figure 1). The connector slots on the TCM feature color-coded

inserts that match the colors of the TPA connectors on the wiring harnesses (refer to Figure 2). The TPA connector

ends are keyed to prevent improper installation of the connectors.

Selector (S) wiring harness assemblies will retain the black strain relief and black TPA connector. Vehicle (V) wiring

harness assemblies will retain the gray strain relief and transparent TPA connector (refer to Figure 3).
