Fuel Gauge Does Not Read Full after Maximum Refueling

Technical Background
Fuel gauge may display 1 to 2 bars under the full mark after maximum refueling.

Production Solution
Adaptation value change from -10 to -3 after calendar week 43.

Service
Reset the fuel gauge adaptation value from -10 to -3 using the following procedure.

Note:
Some procedural steps of the following test plan will be bypassed to get to the fuel gauge adaptation
process.

Procedure:
• Connect VAS-PC.
• Select Guided Fault Finding.

• Identify the vehicle. Select forward arrow.
• Go to Function / Component.
• Select Chassis.
• Select Electrical Systems int/ext.
• Select 01 Self-diagnosis.
• Select 17 Dash panel insert – J285.
• Select 17 Instrument cluster electrical
components.
• Select Fuel gauge sender –G1-, Select forward
arrow.

• Click on Fuel gauge sender –G1-.
• Select forward arrow.

• Observe current value, -10 degrees and select
Done.
Tip:
By selecting done, this starts counting down the
adaptation value starting at 10 degrees to -10
degrees, by .5 degree increments.

• Select the forward arrow when the corrective
value for the fuel gauge is -3.
• Select Done.
