Programming Transmission Control Module (TCM) from 5 to 6 Speed Transmission
MODELS AFFECTED:
MY10 International
Farmer Brother’s 4300 M7LP Model Fleet
Description of Complaint:
International Trucks has determined that a group of 73 4300M7LP model trucks, owned by Penske Truck Leasing,
have overheat concerns. Penske has instructed their lease customers to take these trucks to an Allison Distributor
or Dealer to have the TCMs reprogrammed from a 5 speed to a 6 speed calibration to address the issue.
Background:
The 6 speed calibration will lower engine RPM and in return, lower engine fan speed, therefore reducing and
ideally eliminating any engine or engine fan issues. Navistar’s Field Action #126 began June 6, 2012 and ends
June 1, 2013.
Service Procedure:
The vehicle will be sent to an Authorized Allison Transmission, Inc. Distributor or Dealer to have the TCM
reprogrammed from a 5 speed to a 6 speed transmission.
Once the vehicle has been received, please proceed as follows:
1. The original shift schedule programmed into the TCM, 2800VARIABLE/2800EURO, CIN 4A00DVQ, will be
replaced with 2600VARIABLE/2300EURO. The new CIN will be 4A0133B001 Z. All listed vehicles have
the same configuration.
2. Recalibration of all other features, options, parameters, CMC’s, groups, and packages will remain the
same as the original calibration.
3. LBSS should also still not be active with the new calibration.
4. The lowest maximum speed rating of the tires for all vehicles is 75 mph. This calibration change will not
affect this specification, as maximum vehicle speed will remain at 70 mph. 6th gear will be activated as
part of the recalibration.
Claim Submittal Information:
This is not an Allison warrantable repair. Penske is to be billed for all charges associated with the recalibration.
