Nissan is conducting a quality action to inspect the lot code on the left hand rear brake
caliper on 14 specific 2019 Rogue vehicles identified in Service Comm, and if necessary,
replace the brake caliper.
Affected vehicles are subject to stop sale and are either currently in dealer inventory or
assigned and in transit to the dealer.
*****What Dealers Should Do*****
PLEASE FOLLOW THE ATTACHED REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Verify if vehicles currently in new dealer inventory are affected by this quality action
using Service Comm I.D. PC687
 New vehicles in dealer inventory can also be identified using DCS (Sales->
Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign).
 Refer to NPSB 15-460 for additional information
 Please continue to check newly arriving inventory for campaign
applicability.
2. Use the attached procedure to inspect the left hand rear brake caliper:


If the lot code is 9A24, the brake caliper must be replaced
 Nissan has developed an automatic parts shipment to proactively
provide affected dealers with replacement brake calipers for affected
vehicles in dealer inventory, in the event they are needed. Parts
should begin to arrive at dealers on February 27, 2019



If not, reassemble the wheel and tire

3. The service department should submit the applicable warranty claim for the action
performed so it can be closed on Service Comm and release the vehicle.
***** Dealer Responsibility *****
It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service Comm or DBS National Service History –
Open Campaign using the appropriate campaign I.D for the inspection status on each
affected vehicle currently in new vehicle inventory.

BRAKE CALIPER INSPECTION

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Place vehicle on lift. (Figure 1)

2. Remove the LH rear wheel and tire
assembly.
 Remove the wheel cover (if applicable)
 Remove the (5) lug nuts and the
wheel and tire assembly (Figure 2)

3. Inspect the Lot code on the LH rear
brake caliper. (Figure 4)

4. Is the lot code 9A24?


IF NO- Continue to Step 5 for wheel and tire reassembly



IF YES-Continue to Step 6 for LH brake caliper replacement

5. Reinstall the wheel and tire assembly.
(Figure 5)
 Reinstall the LH rear wheel and tire
assembly
 Torque lug nuts to
113 N●m (12 kg-m, 83 ft-lb)
 Install wheel cover (if applicable)
 Inspection complete
 Submit warranty claim using Op code
PC6870 per “Claims Information”

Brake Caliper Replacement:
WARNING: Clean dust on brake caliper and brake pad with a vacuum dust
collector to minimize the hazard of airborne particles or other materials.
CAUTION:


Do not depress the brake pedal.



Do not spill or splash brake fluid on painted areas; it may cause paint
damage. If brake fluid is splashed on painted areas, wash it away with
water immediately.



Do not bend, twist or pull the brake hoses and piping.



Do not reuse drained brake fluid.



Do not spill or splash brake fluid on disc brake rotor

NOTE: When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc., cap or
plug openings to prevent fluid from spilling.

6. Remove the LH rear brake caliper hose.
 Remove the brake caliper hose union
bolt from the caliper (Figure 6)

 Remove and discard the copper
sealing washers

7. Remove the LH rear brake caliper.
 Remove the upper and lower caliper
slide bolts with a suitable tool
(Figure 7)

8. Remove the brake pads from the torque
member assembly. (Figure 8)

torque member assembly (to be
reused)

9. Remove torque member bracket.

 Loosen and remove the torque
member bolts and torque member
assembly (Figure 9)
 New torque member assembly is
provided with the new brake caliper

10. Install the new torque member
assembly. (Figure 10)
 Position the torque member assembly
in place

 Install the torque member bolts and
torque to
84.4 N●m (8.6kg-m,62 ft-lb)

11. Reinstall the brake pad shims and brake
pads onto the torque member assembly.
(Figure 11)

12. Reinstall the caliper.
 Position the caliper onto the torque
member

 Install the caliper slide bolts
(Figure 12)
 Torque the caliper slide bolts to
43.15 N●m (4.4kg-m, 32 ft-lb)

13. Install the brake hose.
 Assemble the union bolt with NEW
copper sealing washers onto the brake
hose
 Install the union bolt and brake hose
onto the brake caliper, by lining up the
brake hose “L-pin” with the alignment
hole in the brake caliper (Figure 13)

 Torque the union bolt to
18.2 N●m (1.9kg-m, 13 ft-lb)

Caution:


While Bleeding, pay attention to the brake fluid level



Do not allow reservoir tank to empty as this may cause damage to the
master cylinder internal components
14. Bleed the brake system
a. Turn off the ignition and disconnect
the 12v battery negative terminal

b. Remove the brake master cylinder
cap
c. Fill the brake fluid level to the “MAX”
mark
d. Connect a vinyl tube to the LH rear
brake caliper bleeder valve
(Figure 14)

e. Fully depress the brake pedal 4 or 5
times
f. With the brake pedal fully depressed,
loosen the bleeder valve to bleed air
in the brake line, and retighten it
immediately
g. Repeat steps “e” and “f” until all of
the air is out of the brake line

h. Retighten the bleeder screw to
8.33 N●m (0.85kg-m, 74 in-lb)
i. Fill the brake fluid level to “MAX”
mark (Figure 15)

15. Reinstall the wheel and tire assembly.

 Reinstall the LH rear wheel and tire
assembly
 Torque lug nuts to
113 N●m (12 kg-m, 83 ft-lb)
 Install wheel cover (if applicable)

16. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

 Torque to negative battery terminal to
5.39 N●m (0.55 kg-m, 48 in-lb)
