APPLIES TO:
This service bulletin applies to certain 2018, 2019, and 2020 Model Year
K2, K3 and K4 model motor home chassis built between October 25, 2017
and February 6, 2019.
CONDITION:
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) signal is disrupted for a
short period of time.
CORRECTION:
TPMS antennas are to be relocated to locations with a more reliable
reception rate and update the GIC (Graphical Instrument Cluster, a.k.a
digital dash or instrument panel) to display a clearer message when
signal is disrupted.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Thoroughly review entire service bulletin before starting work. If there are questions or concerns
with steps defined in this service bulletin, contact Spartan Motors USA, Inc. Customer & Product
Support Group at 855-589-9836.
All applicable industry safety standards must be followed when performing work identified in this
procedure.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:
• Computer/Laptop with Microsoft Windows (XP, 7, 9, 10) and simultaneously available
Ethernet and USB port.
• J1939 Diagnostic Port to USB Converter and cables (NexIQ or Valid Data Bridge).
• Ethernet cable.
• Startech USB31000SPTB USB to Ethernet Adapter (optional but recommended).
• Philips screwdriver.
• Valid System Setup Utility (VSSU) containing desired firmware versions. Note that PC
Administrator access may be required to install the software.
• Web Browser.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Access Spartan Motor’s CPS website per link below and press ‘Dash TPMS Update’ button
to download needed program if not already installed.
a. https://www.spartanchassis.com/cps/login/SpartanChassisDownloads.asp
2. Open relevant OEM version of the “GIC Update Instructions” document
3. If laptop has not been set up for Valid System Setup Utility before, perform steps listed in
“Install Valid System Setup Utility (VSSU)” on pages 16-17 and “Enabling GIC Button”
section on page 15.
4. Connect to dash according to steps 1-5 in “Firmware Updates – Graphics Subsystem
Update (over Ethernet)” section pages 6-7
5. If not using recommended ethernet adapter that has already been configured, perform
steps outlined in “Ethernet Connection Setup” section pages 13-14
6. Finish steps outlined in “Firmware Updates” section pages 8-12
7. Verify dash update was successfully performed by verifying current revision and latest
revision numbers match on following screens
a. “Ethernet Device Update” screen shown in step 8 on page 9
b. Devices tab shown on step 4 on page 12
8. Locate front TPMS antenna on top of IFS cradle; move it to bottom of IFS cradle facing
downward. Refer to FIG. 3-1.

9. Locate TPMS antenna on bottom of rear cross member that holds tag axle integral valve
assembly; move it to bottom of crossmember positioned above u-joint, driver side with
antenna facing downward. Refer to FIG. 4-1.
