Reason for this Service Bulletin
A problem has been found with the installation of the rear-door secondary gas-strut on some Rapide vehicles. The body
of the gas strut can touch the door when the door is opened. Figure 1 shows a strut with the spindle broken due to
contact between the strut and the door. Do the procedure that follows if a gas strut is damaged.

To increase the dimensions of the door opening
1.

Remove the rear door (refer to Workshop Manual Procedure 01.03.BA, 01.03.BB, 01.03.BC, or 01.03.BD).

Find the area of the door that the gas strut touches
(refer to Figure 2).

Print the Appendix page on A4 paper.

4.

Make sure that the scale on the printed page is correct. If the scale is not correct, change the print settings until
the page prints correctly.

5.

Cut out the template from the Appendix (refer to
Figure 3).

Attach the template to the applicable hole in the
door (refer to Figure 4). Make sure the position of
the template is correct.

Make a line on the door around the template.

Refer to the marked area and use a file to remove
unwanted material (refer to Figure 5).
Note: Approximately 2 to 3mm of material can
be removed to make sure the gas strut does not
touch the door.

Apply Betaprime 1707 around the hole to give corrosion protection.

10. Install the rear door and use a new secondary gas-strut part (refer to Workshop Manual Procedure 01.03.BA,
01.03.BB, 01.03.BC, or 01.03.BD).
