Use this Quarantine Notice for vehicles that are not registered and have not been given to a Customer.
Some vehicles in the affected VIN list for this Quarantine Notice may now be registered and given to a
Customer. Check the Online Dealer Warranty (ODW) database to make sure that all necessary work is
done to every vehicle.

Reason for this Quarantine Notice
Some Rapide AMR vehicles have the older, EPB software installed. This does not recognize the current DSC Car
Configuration (Car Config) parameters.
The new DSC software has Car Config 6 (Right-Side Brake System) set to a value of 37. This will cause the EPB software
to produce the incorrect fault message, “Park brake service required”.

Workshop Procedure
his Workshop Procedure has the parts that follow:
• Part A – Car Config update
• Part B – DSC software update
CAUTIONS:

CONNECT A BATTERY CHARGER TO THE VEHICLE BATTERY WHEN YOU DO THE PROCEDURE
THAT FOLLOWS. IF THE VEHICLE BATTERY DISCHARGES DURING THE PROCEDURE, THE
SOFTWARE UPDATE CAN FAIL. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM (EMS).
CONNECT THE AMDS EQUIPMENT TO AN ELECTRICAL SUPPLY WHEN YOU DO THE
PROCEDURE THAT FOLLOWS. IF THE LAPTOP BATTERY VOLTAGE DECREASES DURING THE
UPDATE, THE UPDATE CAN FAIL AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MODULE.

Notes:

A high output battery charger (minimum of 80 A) is necessary to meet the demand of the radiator
cooling fan.
Make sure that the AMDS software has updated to the latest version. The AMDS software will need
a good Internet connection (minimum broadband speed of 2 Mbit/second) to make sure that the
software is updated correctly.

Part A – Car Config update
1.

Connect the VCI dongle to the OBD II port on the vehicle.

2.

Start the AMDS software and update to latest version, if necessary.

3.

On the main menu, select “Flash”.

4.

Click “CAR CONFIG” (refer to Figure 1).

Click “OK” to install the new Car Config data.

6.

Click “DCS” to download the Car Config from DCS.

Log in to the amdealers.com portal.

Config” (refer to Figure 4).

Enter the last 6 digits of the vehicle’s VIN and click “SUBMIT”.

10. Click “DOWNLOAD CONFIG FILE” (refer to

11. In the next pop-up window, follow the instructions
to install the Car Config file (refer to Figure 6).

12. In the next two pop-up windows, click “No” (refer
to Figure 7).

13. In the final pop-up window click “Yes” (refer to
Figure 8). The Car Config file will be updated.

14. Once the Flash update is complete, click “OK”
(refer to Figure 9).

Part B – DSC software update
15. Make sure the battery charger is still connected to the vehicle.
16. Connect the VCI Dongle to the OBD II port on the vehicle.
17. Start the AMDS software and update to the latest version, if necessary.
18. Click “Flash”.
19. Press “ALT” on the keyboard and click “EBS” (refer to
Figure 10).

20. Type “HL4RAS00027.VBS” in the pop-up window
(refer to Figure 11).
Note: Type in capital letters.

21. Click “OK” (refer to Figure 11). The software will update.
Note:

After the DSC software is updated, you must do the procedure that follows to calibrate the sensors.

22. Make sure that the vehicle is parked on level ground.
Notes:

The calibration procedure must be done with the vehicle parked on level ground. This is important to
make sure that the calibration procedure is completed accurately.
During the procedure that follows, you will need to turn the steering wheel. Obey the instructions from
AMDS at the correct time.

23. Click “Special Apps” (refer to Figure 12).

24. Click “DSC Utilities” (refer to Figure 13).

34. Put the vehicle through a power cycle until no warnings remain on the dashboard.
35. Disconnect the AMDS from the vehicle.
