DEFECT DESCRIPTION:
Certain International® MV™ and HV™ Series trucks may have been built with an
Instrument Panel (IP) harness without the Auto Neutral return wire to the
interconnection to the engine harness.
ELIGIBILITY:
This procedure applies ONLY to vehicles marked in the International® Service PortalSM
with FSC 18116. Also complete any other open campaigns listed on the Service Portal
at this time.

WORK INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, park
vehicle on hard flat surface, turn the engine off, set the parking brake, and install
wheel chocks to prevent the vehicle from moving in both directions.
WARNING! To prevent personal injury and / or death, always wear safe eye
protection when performing vehicle maintenance.

WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, remove
the ground cable from the negative terminal of the battery before disconnecting
any electrical components. Always connect the ground cable last.
WARNING! To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, keep
flames or sparks away from vehicle and do not smoke while servicing the
vehicle’s batteries. Batteries expel explosive gases.
1. Park vehicle on flat surface.
2. Shift transmission into Park or Neutral and set parking brake.
3. Turn vehicle ignition to Key OFF position.
4. Install wheel chocks.
5. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable on main vehicle battery.
6. Cut 5.3 feet of 18-gauge TAN wire.
7. Remove insulation 1/4 inch (6 mm) from one end of wire.
8. Install and crimp terminal 2003343C1 to wire.

NOTE: Ensure wire located in cavity 55 is marked A92#103A on the insulation.
11. Unlock connector and depopulate wire located in cavity 55 (Figure 3, Item 1).
12. Position heat shrink tube over end of wire. Tubing must extend 1/2 inch past end of
wire.
13. Using heat gun and pliers, shrink tubing and pinch end closed.
14. Using cable tie strap, secure wire to IP harness.

15. Remove PDM cover (Figure 4, Item 1) on passenger-side of instrument panel.

16. Locate and remove auto neutral relay (Figure 5, Item 1) positioned at 1011-B2, R3.
Save relay for reuse.

1. Hold down bolt
NOTE: The bolt will need to be removed and the PDM pulled from the panel to
insert the correct wire.
17. Remove hold down bolt (Figure 6, Item 1) located at top of PDM assembly.
18. Lift PDM and viewing from bottom, locate 1011-B2, R3 cavity 30 and remove
terminal position lock.
19. Install terminal 2003343C1 into cavity 30.
20. Reinstall terminal position lock.
21. Install PDM assembly.
22. Install auto neutral relay.

23. Route wiring along main branch of IP harness (Figure 7, Item 1) to 1703M connector
(Figure 7, Item 2).
NOTE: Cut any excess wire not needed.
24. Remove insulation 1/4 inch (6 mm) from end of wire.
25. Install and crimp terminal 3768007C1 to wire.
26. Install terminal into cavity 55 of 1703M connector.
27. Ensure all terminals are correctly seated and lock connector.
28. Install connector 1703M.
29. Using cable tie straps, secure wire to main branch of IP harness.
30. Install PDM cover, HVAC cover and kick panel.
31. Connect negative battery cable to negative terminal on main vehicle battery.
32. Remove wheel chocks.

WARRANTY CLAIMS
Warranty claim expense is to be charged to Warranty. Claims are to be submitted in the
normal manner, making reference to Field Service Campaign 18116.
Section 7 of the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual contains further information
related to the submission and processing of AFC / Recall claims.
As with all claim submissions, items acquired locally must be submitted in the “Other
Charges” tab. The cost of any bulk items (such as a bag of cable tie straps, roll of wire,
barrel of oil, or tube of silicone) should be prorated for the cost of the individual pieces /
amount used during each repair.
To make sure this important improvement is made in a timely manner, all claims for
18116 activity must be submitted by 03 January 2020 or within the normal warranty
period for the component, if after 03 January 2020.
