Front Suspension Strut Noise
Customer states there is a noise from the front suspension while driving at slow speeds over bumps.

Technical Background
Original dust boot design is too long, causing contact with the bump stop and creating a noise.

Production Solution
Improved shorter dust boot, implemented with VIN: CA_KC519449.

Service
Diagnostic Procedure:
1. Watch both attached videos (“howtoproducenoise” and “checkdustbootbellowmovement”).
Note:
The dust boots (bellows) should move/rotate freely similar to the movement found in the video.
2. If the noise is duplicated like in the video, check the dust boots (bellows) for movement.
3. If the dust boots (bellows) make noise or do NOT move and rotate freely like in the video, replace both dust
boots (bellows).
Note:
The wheel bearing must not be under load when the drive axle threaded connection on the wheel side is loose.
If the wheel bearings are under the load of the vehicle weight, the wheel bearing will be damaged. This reduces
the service life of the wheel bearings.
