Technical Background
After replacing the battery it is necessary to adapt the battery to the vehicle. If the adaptation is not completed, the
start/stop function will be inoperative. Additionally, charging system operation may be effected and various DTCs can
result.
Service
Connect a scan tool.
Go to the test plan tab.
Go to select self-test.
Go to Diagnosis-capable systems.
Go to 0019 - Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface.
Go to Battery Adaptation and attach to the test plan.
Perform the Battery Adaptation test plan.
During the test plan you will be asked for the serial number of the battery (Figure 1).
