On vehicles with engine numbers up to 176.980 30 049165 - produced up to January 08, 2019, possible customer
complaint of "low oil level" warning light in the Instrument Cluster or irregular oil consumption. Check engine light may
be present for misfire. Engine may run rough.
Cause:
Piston assembly installation during production process may not meet specifications.

Remedy:
If you receive related complaint on vehicles with engine number up to 176.980 30 049165, produced before January
08 2019, follow the steps below and refer to the WIS document AH01.00-P- 0300-01AMG.
- check for signs of external oil loss;
- check exhaust gases (blue smoke);
- perform short test with freeze frame data
- perform compression and leak-down tests
- check spark plugs
- bore scope cylinders
- check O2 sensors, turbos, cats, exhaust components
- conclude findings
- document your findings for any future references including illustrations of cylinder walls, spark plugs, combustion
