REVISION SUMMARY
Under CORRECTIVE ACTION, WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION, and REPAIR PROCEDURE A and B, the PCM
idle learn procedure was added.
SYMPTOM
When cold-starting the engine and shifting to Reverse with your foot on the brake pedal, you hear a booming noise and
the engine speed fluctuates.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
The ANC control unit becomes unstable when the idle fluctuates.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Update the PGM-Fi software, and do the PCM idle learn procedure. Some vehicles also require a new ANC control unit.
Check the VIN to ensure the vehicle needs a unit.

Repair Procedure B
DIAGNOSIS
1. Check the VIN range in SOFTWARE INFORMATION.
•
If the VIN range is in Repair Procedure A, go to step 2.
•
If the VIN range is in Repair Procedure B, go to Repair Procedure B.
2. Remove the driver's side center console panel, and check the ANC control unit part number.

If part number begins with 39200-TJC-A01, 39200-TJC-A11, or 39200-TJC-A21, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE
A.
•
If it does not end in A01, A11. or A21, you do not need to replace the ANC control unit. Go to REPAIR
PROCEDURE B to update the PGM-FI.
REPAIR PROCEDURE A
1. Replace the ANC control unit.
2. Update the PGM-FI software using the i-HDS J2534 Rewrite software with the MVCI or DST-i. Refer to service
bulletin 01-026, Updating Control Units/Modules.
NOTE
Connect a fully charged jumper battery, and leave it connected during the entire procedure to maintain steady
voltage. Never turn the ignition to OFF or ACCESSORY during the update. If there is a problem with the update,
leave the ignition turned to ON, then refer to service bulletin 01-026. To prevent control unit damage, do not operate
anything electrical (headlights, audio system, brakes, A/C, power windows, door locks, etc.) during the update. Do
not use the MongoosePro VCI.
3. Do the PCM idle learn procedure. See the service information.

REPAIR PROCEDURE B
1. Update the PGM-FI software using the i-HDS J2534 Rewrite software with the MVCI or DST-i. Refer to service
bulletin 01-026, Updating Control Units/Modules.
NOTE
