Bulletin Classification: This campaign bulletin addresses a known non-safety-related condition and provides
recommended technical diagnosis and repair procedures. Apply this procedure to all vehicles in the affected VIN range
listed. These instructions assume knowledge of motor vehicle and high voltage electrical component repairs, and should
only be executed by trained professionals. Tesla assumes no liability for injury or property damage due to a failure to
properly follow these instructions or repairs attempted by unqualified individuals.

Condition
On certain Model 3 vehicles, the charge port power terminals have insulator pins that might become dislodged from the
terminals, causing the charge handle not to fully connect to the vehicle and preventing the High Voltage (HV) battery to
charge.

Replace the charge port insulator pins with updated parts.

Procedure
1. Remove the 2nd row lower seat cushion (refer to Service Manual procedure 13051002).
2. Remove the rear underhood apron (refer to Service Manual procedure 12251102).
3. Disconnect 12V power (refer to Service Manual procedure 17010200).
4. Perform the vehicle electrical isolation procedure (refer to Service Manual procedure 17010000).
5. Lift the HV cap straight up from over the DC input connector on the LH side of the penthouse (Figure 1), and then
remove the HV cap from the vehicle.

6. Remove the LH 2nd row seat side bolster (refer to Service Manual procedure 13055102).
7. Remove the LH rear sill panel trim (refer to Service Manual procedure 15180502).

8. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the charge port to penthouse bracket (Figure 2).

9. Release the clips (x2) that attach the low voltage electrical harness to the charge port to HV harness bracket at the
penthouse (Figure 3), and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.

10. Release the clip that attaches the charge port to HV harness to the LH lower C-pillar (Figure 4).

11. Raise the latch handle to disconnect the charge port to HV harness from the DC input assembly, and then disconnect
the charge port harness from the penthouse (Figure 5).

12. Remove the front and rear charge port insulator pins from the charge port assembly by carefully grabbing each
insulator pin with needle nose pliers, and then pull each insulator pin to remove it from the charge port assembly
(Figure 6).

13. Clean any leftover insulator pin debris from the charge port assembly with an ESD-safe vacuum.

14. Insert the new charge port insulator pins into a 3 mm hex socket, and then use an extension to push the insulators
into the charge port assembly power terminals until they are seated (Figure 7).
CAUTION: Make sure that the new charge port insulator pins are fully seated on the terminals of the charge port
assembly.

15. Perform the penthouse air leak test (refer to Service Manual procedure 16100400).
