Either of the following DTC’s are stored in address 01 – Engine Control Module 1 or address 11 – Engine Control Module 2
•

P257900: Turbocharger Speed Sensor “A” – Circuit Range/Performance

Or
•

P259400: Turbocharger Speed Sensor “B” – Circuit Range/Performance

Or
•

P259500: Turbocharger Speed Sensor “B” – Circuit low

Measure
Ask the customer under what driving conditions they experienced the complaint; duration driven, throttle load (was it under harsh or light
acceleration), what gradient they were driving on etc. and feedback via a DISS technical enquiry.
Measure
1. Road test the vehicle to try and reproduce the complaint, carry out an extensive test if required.
•

Drive the vehicle under the same driving conditions as when the customer experienced the complaint

•

Use light and hard acceleration cycles

2. Check the intake and exhaust systems for air leaks, if a leak is detected rectify the leak.
3. Check and drain the intercooler pipes as per TPI 2050222, feedback the amount drained via DISS. If an excessive amount of oil is drained then
erase the DTC and carry another road test as detailed in point 1. If the fault does not return the vehicle can be handed back to the customer, if the
fault does return, proceed with point 4.
4. Carry out the test plan for the affected Turbocharger speed sensor, if wiring checks are suggested also carry out the following manual wiring
checks for the affected sensor;
•

Open circuit

•

Short circuit to ground

•

Short circuit to B+

•

Short circuit of the wires to each other

If the wiring tests OK then replace the affected Turbocharger speed sensor.
When replacing the Turbocharger speed sensor take extreme care not to damage the component, the sensor will be required back at
Bentley Motors Crewe for analysis.
