Daimler Trucks North America, LLC has decided that a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in
specific motorhomes built on Freightliner Chassis (NHTSA 18V 703). In response, Newmar Corporation is
releasing recall NHTSA 18V 859 and TC # 2018-669.
Issue: On certain motorhomes, the brake caliper mounting bolts may be incorrectly torqued. Insufficiently
torqued bolts may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate
potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness. Reduced brake effectiveness could lead to a vehicle
crash and/or property damage.
Correction: Daimler Trucks North America LLC service facilities will inspect and repair as necessary.
Units Affected: Refer to the attached population list for specific VIN numbers supplied by DTNA.
Recommended Action
Repair Procedure: Contact the Freightliner Customer Support Center at 1-800-FTL-HELP (1-800-3854357), and follow the prompts, or visit https://freightliner.com/dealer-search/. You may also email DTNA
at [email protected], or call them at 1-800-547-0712 to locate an authorized
DTNA service center to schedule and perform the recall near you. DTNA will provide the work
instructions and any necessary parts.
Note: Newmar will not be authorizing this repair. DTNA will authorize and schedule this repair. If you
need assistance contacting DTNA, contact your Newmar Service Account Manager.

This notice is sent to you as a Newmar Dealer in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor
Vehicle Safety Act. Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in
specific Newmar recreational vehicles.
The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act requires that each vehicle, which is subject to a recall campaign of
this type, must be satisfactorily repaired within a reasonable time after the owner has tendered it for repair. A
failure to adequately repair within 60 days after tender of a vehicle is prima facie evidence of failure to repair within
a reasonable time. To avoid providing these problematic solutions, every effort must be made to promptly schedule
an appointment with each owner and to repair their vehicle as soon as possible. Vehicle owners are being notified
of this recall. If the condition is not remedied within a reasonable time, they are instructed on how to contact the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Safety Risk
Insufficiently torqued bolts may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor
plate potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness. Reduced brake effectiveness could lead to a vehicle
crash and/or property damage.
WHAT WE WILL DO
Daimler Trucks North America LLC will inspect and tighten the brake caliper mounting bolts at no charge for parts
or labor. Daimler Trucks North America LLC service facilities will inspect and repair as necessary. Estimated time
for repair is 4.8 hours.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
As this defect does affect motor vehicle safety, it is recommended that you call Daimler Trucks North America LLC
@ 800-547-0712 to locate a Qualified Service Center near you. If you need further assistance, contact the Newmar
service department immediately at 1-800-731-8300. An associate will assist you in making an appointment to have
this repair completed.
Federal regulations require that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notification must forward a copy of this
notice to the lessee within ten days.
If you have had the repair performed before receiving this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for

On certain vehicles equipped with air disc brakes, the brake caliper mounting bolts may be incorrectly
torqued. This could result in the caliper bolts loosening, which could lead to the caliper detaching. Insufficiently
torqued fasteners may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate
potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness, which would result in increased stopping distances, increasing
the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks of North America Service
Facilities will inspect the bolts, and repair as necessary.
The motorhomes require immediate service. Continued use poses a potential safety hazard.
Motorhomes included in this recall: 2018 London Aire; 2018 Ventana LE and 2018-2019 Ventana built between
12/15/2017 and 10/03/2018.
DEALER CAMPAIGN RESPONSIBILITY
Dealers are to provide to all customers/owner vehicles the service of completing this campaign at no charge to

MOTIF DU PRÉSENT RAPPEL
Newmar Corporation a déterminé qu’il existe une défaillance relevant de la sécurité automobile dans certaines
autocaravanes montées sur châssis Freightliner. Nous procédons à ce rappel en raison de renseignements que
Daimler Trucks North America LLC nous a fournis.
Sur certains véhicules équipés de freins à disque pneumatiques, les boulons de fixation de l’étrier de frein peuvent
avoir été mal serrés au couple. Les boulons de l’étrier peuvent alors se desserrer, ce qui pourrait entraîner le
détachement de l’étrier. Des dispositifs de fixation insuffisamment serrés peuvent ne pas offrir une force de
serrage adéquate entre l’étrier de frein et le support de frein, ce qui peut occasionner une réduction de l’efficacité
du système de freinage. Une telle situation accroît les distances de freinage et les risques de collisions causant des
blessures ou des dommages à la propriété. Mesure corrective : Les installations d’entretien de Daimler Trucks
North America inspecteront les boulons et se chargeront d’effectuer une réparation au besoin.
Il est impératif que les réparations sur ces autocaravanes soient effectuées immédiatement. Leur utilisation
prolongée pose un risque d’accident potentiel.
