Dometic Blizzard A/C
The information and instructions in a Keystone Service Bulletin (KSB) are intended to inform RV
dealership Service Managers/Technicians of situations that may occur with some Recreational
vehicles so dealership personnel can perform proper and efficient service. KSB’s are intended
to be used by trained RV technicians with the knowledge, tools and equipment to do the job
properly and safely, not “do-it-yourselfers”.
This process describes the repair where under certain conditions the Dometic Blizzard air
conditioner may leak water into the living space of the RV through the ducting or the return
air grill. The following procedure describes how to properly seal an affected Dometic Blizzard
air conditioner.
Parts Required per Unit: 1 KRV # 564920– A/C - Blizzard Kit - EEP Plates & Fasteners
Local parts:

Silicon sealant – Sealing putty – Sealant tape

Tools Required:

Screw gun, Screwdriver, Caulk Gun, 3/8” Nut Driver for mounting screws.
This KSB requires a Pre-Authorization

When performing this KSB, please make certain that appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE) is used.
The remedy is to apply sealant as indicated, and inspect ducts, wiring, seals, and drain area.
REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1
Locate the trailer on a level, flat, hard surface. Chock the wheels.
Step 2
Disconnect RV battery and unplug the shore cord power.

Symptom:

Water intrusion into the interior living space of the RV through ducting and return air
grille/ducting.

Cause:

High static pressures, air flow restrictions, and inaccurate installation.

Remedy:

See procedure below.

Air conditioners are normally located on the roof of an RV. It is inherently dangerous to climb onto the
roof of an RV to perform maintenance on an air conditioning unit. Falling from the roof of an RV, or
while climbing onto the roof, can cause serious injury or death. Air conditioner maintenance/repairs
are best performed by a qualified, certified RV technician.

➤➤ Remove the foam cover and shroud from the unit.

flow.

➤➤ Apply proper sealant tape to ducts in order to
eliminate condensation caused by hot and cold air
mixing together.

➤➤ Inspect the condensation drain area to ensure it is
free of obstructions or debris that could clog the
drain holes.

➤➤ For return air boxes, ensure dividers are separating
dicharge air from return air, and that they are
properly sealed.

➤➤ Replace the foam cover and shroud.
