Subject: Warranty Extension For Crack Of Cylinder Block In JB424 And A6B424
This letter is to inform you of a warranty extension for the crack of cylinder block on JB424 and
A6B424 model vehicles.
Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) has determined that, due to potential residual stress in the casting
process of cylinder block, crack might occur at the bottom of the thread for the cylinder head bolt.
In this condition, coolant will leak from water jacket, and then it comes out of the cylinder block. As
a result, water temperature increase because of lack of coolant in the engine cooling system.
Please refer to the following pictures for understanding the condition of the crack.

To ensure the satisfaction of customers, SMC has decided to extend the warranty for the cylinder
block on JB424 and A6B424 model vehicles. Details of this warranty extension are explained in the
next page.

Extended Period
The warranty coverage for the cylinder block is being extended to 7 years or 170,000 km (102,000
miles) whichever comes first, from the date of retail sale or when first placed in service as a
demonstrator.

JB424 (Grand Vitara) and A6B424 (Kizashi)

NOTE:
Some vehicles are not eligible for the warranty extension even though the production date is within
the production range above.
Please refer to the VIN list, which was attached as ANNEX1 on our previous letter Ref No.
ABE-ZF-140110 of Jan 10, 2014 since there is no change in the list.
