COOLANT LEAK AT ATF WARMER CONNECTOR

SUBJECT:

This TSB supersedes TSB 18-AT-017 to revise the Warranty Information.
Description:
This bulletin provides the procedure to replace the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) warmer
connector on some vehicles which may exhibit a coolant leak between the ATF connector and
engine side heater pipe.

Service Procedure:
1.

Remove the engine cover.
Drain approximately one gallon of engine coolant
into a clean container.
Refer to the instructions in the related shop manual,
Engine Mechanical System, Intake and Exhaust
System and remove the intake air inlet hoses and
the intake manifold.

Circulate To: Service Manager, Warranty Manager, Service Advisors, Technicians, Fleet Repair

Remove the 2 bolts to the brackets that
secure the pipe near the rear of the engine.

3.

Remove the bolt near the front of the engine.
Disconnect the clamp and hose.

Push the pipe toward the rear of the engine
and disconnect the forward end of the pipe
from the housing.
Pull the pipe up 2~3 inches and pull the pipe
toward the radiator to gain access to the
connector.

Remove the 2 nuts that secure the connector
to the pipe.
Disconnect the pipe from the connector.

Remove the old O-ring.
Install the new blue O-ring (part number
97690-4D800) on the connector.

7.

Install a new O-ring (part number 254623F300) on the end of the pipe near the
radiator.

8.

Reconnect the pipe to the housing and
connector.
Reinstall the 2 nuts to the connector.
Torque: 5~7 lb.ft, 0.7~1.0 kgf.m, 6~10 N.m)

CAUTION

Tighten the nuts gradually and
evenly until tightened.
Install the 3 bolts that secure the pipe.

ATM COOLANT LEAK AT CONNECTOR

Reinstall the intake manifold and intake air duct.
Add engine coolant.

10. Attach a GDS and check the coolant level
according to the related shop manual,
Engine Mechanical System, Cooling
System, Coolant, Repair Procedures
and Engine coolant filling mode.

11. Check for correct coolant level, pressure test the cooling system and confirm no leaks are
found.
