Motor America's "Warranty
Vehicle Information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open Campaigns.
Description: On certain Elantra (AD) vehicles, the passenger side outside mirror may exhibit a
whistle noise while driving. This bulletin provides the procedure to repair the outside mirror noise on
the passenger side.

Service Procedure:
1.
Check the standard line (A) of the outside mirror base
cover on the passenger side (normal mirror design
position).

Pull the outside mirror (B) to the front side and bend
approximately 45 degrees.

CAUTION
Pull the mirror (B) horizontally not
vertically.

Check the position of the base cover standard line
(A) and pad attachment (C). Orient the mirror
accordingly so the base molding gap can be seen for
the application of the tape.

NOTICE
Wipe the base molding with a clean
alcohol wipe to decontaminate the
application surface.

Check the position of the tape starting (C).
Maintain the 3mm distance from the end line (D)
when attaching the pad.

Remove the pad (F) from the vinyl backing (G).

Carefully insert and position the pad (F) between
the mirror and base cover (I) with the adhesion
surface (H) downward. (Refer to step 7 of this
procedure for correct positioning of pad).
NOTICE
It may be helpful to use tweezers
or toothpicks to insert and position
the noise reducing pad.

CAUTION
If the installation of the pad is done
incorrectly and a new pad has to be
installed, be certain to remove all
remnants of adhesive before the
installation of another new pad.

Reposition mirror (B) back to the normal position.

CAUTION
Ensure tape is not seen when mirror is in
normal position. If tape is seen, remove the
tape and install a replacement tape.
