Altec Industries, Inc. has developed a product improvement which relates to certain AT200A, AT200AV,
AT235, AT237, AT30-G, AT35-G, AT37-G, AT40-G, AT248F, and TA40 Units built from November 2016
through August 2018 with a certainsplicer door on the platform.
Refer to SIL 697 for items covered under the warranty policy. Altec will supply necessary parts, if needed,
to correct this condition.
In order to determine if your unit is affected by SIL 697, compare your unit with the list of affected units as
described on the SIL. The product improvement can be performed by the customer or you may contact
Altec at 1-877-GO-ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) for further assistance.
At any time, you may contact Altec at 1-877 GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) with your unit’s serial
number to determine if there are any other outstanding notices.

records may be changed.

With Certain Splicer Doors

Splicer Platform Door Repair
Altec is committed to providing our customers reliable products from initial delivery throughout the useful life of the machine.
Some customers have reported that the splicer platform door has sharp areas along the top
edge. Altec recommends that edges of the splicer platform doors be inspected and smoothed
to eliminate sharp edges. Use the procedure beginning on Page 2.
This repair is covered under the Altec Warranty Policy and can be performed by Altec, the
customer, or the customer’s warranty provider. Altec will perform the repair for free. If the
customer, or the customer’s warranty provider performs the repair, a warranty claim must be
submitted to be reimbursed for the cost of the labor. Altec will allow up to $45 for the labor
to perform this repair. Call 1-877-GO ALTEC (1-877-462-5832) to schedule the work to be
done by an Altec service technician. Customers are responsible for the travel costs of an Altec
Mobile Service technician if the technician performs the inspection or repair at the owner’s
location.

Repair Procedure
Normal mechanics hand tools and 80 grit sandpaper are required for the procedure. Read and
understand all steps of the instructions before beginning the procedure.
1. Position the unit on a level surface, apply the parking brake and chock the wheels. Engage
the unit’s hydraulic system and properly set the outriggers (if so equipped).
2. Operate the unit to position the platform near the ground for easier access. Disengage the
unit’s hydraulic system.
3. Open the platform door and look at the two notches, one at each side of the top of the door
(refer to Figure 1).

4. Use the 80 grit sandpaper to round the sharp edges on each end of both notches (refer to
Figure 2).

5. Use the sandpaper to remove the sharp surfaces along the edges of the notches (refer to
Figure 3).

6. Inspect the platform door for any other edges that are sharp and sand them off so that they
are smooth.
7. Close the platform door. Engage the unit’s hydraulic system. Stow the unit properly.
Retract the outriggers (if so equipped). Return the unit to service.
