SUBJECT: Advance™ Software U05.16.00 & V05.16.00
U05.16.00 and V05.16.00 microprocessor software versions are now available and posted on
TransCentral™ for all Trailer & Rail units equipped with the Advance Microprocessor. The
versions are divided into the “U” version specifically for Ultra / Ultima / NDL models, and the
“V” version specifically for the Vector models. The U05.16.00 version is approved for use in
all Ultra (NDA), Ultima (NDX), and X-Series (NDL) models including models with the Intelligent
Damper System. The V05.16.00 version is approved for use in all Vector™ 1800MT, 5100,
6500, and 6600MT models. Below are the updates included with this software release:

Information for Vector Advance controlled units
When alarm A128 (Low/Unbalanced A/C Amps) or a combination of A41 (Engine Stall) or A100
(Overload/Ground Fault) are triggered, a “Technician Reset” is mandatory to clear the alarms.
A technician should inspect the unit (especially the generator and generator wiring) and make
necessary corrections and repairs before clearing the alarm. The below criteria will trigger the
need for a “Technician Reset”:

Alarm A128 occurs twice within a two hour of engine run time
Consecutive occurrences of A41 and A100 within two hours of engine run time

Information for all Advance controlled units
When the same Intelliset™ is re-entered, the controller will revert all modified settings back to
the original default settings for that Intelliset.
Example: The unit is using an Intelliset for Apples with a default set point of 36°F with a
range of 34 to 40°F. The operator has changed the set point to 40°F, if the same Intelliset
is re-entered (Apples), the set point will revert to the default setting of 36°F

IMPORTANT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION INFORMATION:
ONCE ANY 05.xx.xx VERSION IS INSTALLED INTO AN ADVANCE CONTROLLER, IT WILL NO
LONGER BE POSSIBLE TO LOAD ANY VERSIONS OF 04.xx.xx or earlier versions of
SOFTWARE INTO THAT MICROPROCESSOR. Future version releases may be loaded as they
are released.
U05.16.00.bex or V05.16.00.bex software can be installed using a Program PC card. U05.16.00.bex
and V05.16.00.bex are both available at no cost by visiting the Carrier Transicold TransCentral
website. Existing Program PC cards may be upgraded to U05.16.00.bex or V05.16.00.bex using the
TRU-Tech™ program.
NOTICE: The display and MessageCenter may behave differently during the software loading
process, depending on the version of software currently in the controller. DO NOT INTERRUPT
THE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION PROCESS ONCE IT HAS STARTED.
When upgrading from 03.02.00 or higher to U05.16.00 or V05.16.00, all information for installing, and
an update of the install process, will be displayed in the MessageCenter.
When upgrading from a version prior to 03.02.00 to U05.16.00 or V05.16.00, once the Program PC Card is
inserted, and the “=” key pressed, the display will turn off, and the engine will stop (if it was running). NOW,
after the software installation process has been underway for just a few seconds, the display will power up, and
the MessageCenter will show INSTALLING PROGRAM SOFTWARE during the software install process. The
Card Status LED adjacent to the PC Card slot will blink together with the Micro Status LED during the software
installation process. Once the entire program has been loaded, the MessageCenter will show INSTALL
COMPLETE – REMOVE CARD. At the same time, the Card Status LED will stop blinking and be on solid,
indicating that the software install is complete.
NOTE FOR NDL, NDP and NEP MODELS: Once the unit shuts down to begin the software
install process, the Suction Modulation Valve closing process begins. The software
installation processes will not begin until the SMV is completely closed, which will
delay the actual software install process (the Microprocessor Status and Card Status
LEDs blink together every 0.5 seconds) for about 45 seconds.
Additional information regarding changes featured in this new software release is detailed below.
NOTICE: Whenever loading software into an Advance controller, it is always wise to verify that the new version
is actually installed by going to the Data List, and reading the installed software version at the MessageCenter.

NOTICE: Carrier Transicold transport refrigeration units (TRUs) are designed to maintain the temperature of
the product at the temperature at which it was loaded; Carrier Transicold TRUs are not designed to cool or warm
product.
