Product Update: 2019 Civic Si Summer Tire Label Mismatch

BACKGROUND
For the 2019 model year, a specification change was made to the Civic Si trim level. Due to this change, some vehicles
were incorrectly equipped with summer tires from the factory while the Monroney label showed all-season tires as
standard equipment.
If your dealership decides to keep the summer tires mounted on an affected vehicle, your sales department needs to
contact the District Sales Manager to obtain new Monroney labels for any affected vehicles that will keep the summer
tires mounted.
This product update will expire on August 1, 2019. Until August 1, 2019, affected vehicles can have these summer tires
replaced with all-season tires OR have the Monroney label replaced for new inventory vehicles.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this campaign.
Some affected vehicles may be in your dealership's new vehicle inventory.
Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
If the customer decides to keep the summer tires mounted, do Repair Procedure A - Customer Acknowledgement.
If the customer decides to replace the summer tires with all-season tires, do Repair Procedure B - Replace Tires and
Placard, Change VSA Threshold, and Calibrate TPMS.
For affected vehicles in your new vehicle inventory that will have the summer tires replaced with all-season tires, do
Repair Procedure B - Replace Tires and Placard, Change VSA Threshold, and Calibrate TPMS.
For affected vehicles in your new vehicle inventory that will keep the summer tires mounted, do Repair Procedure C Replace Monroney Label.

REPAIR PROCEDURE A - CUSTOMER ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Skill Level: Service Advisor
Do an iN VIN status inquiry. If the customer decides to keep the summer tires, document it on the repair order, and file
the appropriate claim to update the VIN status.
REPAIR PROCEDURE B - REPLACE TIRES AND PLACARD, CALIBRATE TPMS, AND CHANGE VSA THRESHOLD
Skill Level: Repair Technician
1. Dismount all four summer tires and puncture each tire's sidewall with an electric drill.
2. Mount and balance four Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season tires and reinstall them on the vehicle.
3. Locate the Tire Loading and Information Placard on the driver's door jamb and remove it using a heatgun and a
plastic tool.
NOTE
Be careful not to scratch or damage the paint.
4. Thoroughly clean the adhesive residue from the label using isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth and allow the
alcohol to dry.
5. Make sure the new Tire Loading and Information Placard matches the all-season tires installed on the vehicle.
6. Apply the placard 15 cm below the VIN label in the same orientation as the removed placard.

NOTE
Make sure the placard is properly applied with no wrinkles, tears, or bubbles.

7. Connect the HDS, and in the System Selection Menu, select ABS/TCS/VSA.

8. Select TPMS(VSA) threshold.

9. Select YES to continue.

10. Select YES to change the wheel size.

11. Under Current Wheel Size Setting, select 18 inch. Under Tyre Type, select Mud and Snow. Select the checkmark
when done.

12. Make sure the tires are inflated to the specified tire pressure listed on the new doorjamb label.
13. Select HOME button on the center display (A).

14. Select SETTINGS.
15. Select VEHICLE.
16. Select TPMS CALIBRATION.
17. Select CALIBRATE.
18. When the calibration successfully begins, CALIBRATION STARTED is shown on the center display.

REPAIR PROCEDURE C - REPLACE MONRONEY LABEL
Skill Level: Service Advisor/Porter/Sales Staff
Updated Monroney labels will be shipped to your dealership sales department from American Honda Auto Sales.
Replace the incorrect label with the updated label. Make sure the window is clean, dry, and at room temperature when
applying the label as shown.

Once complete, document the replacement of the Monroney label on the repair order, and file the appropriate claim to
update the VIN status.
