SERVICE ACTION: REPLACE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER
AND CHECK TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE
Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer
delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the
next time the vehicle is in the shop.

MODEL
G05 (X5)

AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves G05 X5 with the B58 engine produced from July 11, 2018 to September 12, 2018.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR,
the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader

SITUATION
The transmission oil cooler and transmission oil cooler line (radiator feed) could be affected by a manufacturing
defect, which may result in transmission fluid leak.

CORRECTION
Replace the transmission oil cooler and check the transmission oil cooler line for proper installation.

PROCEDURE
Follow Repair Instruction 17 21 010 Removing and installing/replacing the transmission oil cooler to
replace the transmission oil cooler.
Check and modify the transmission oil cooler line as described below, before reinstalling the underbody
protection plates.

CHECKING THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE

Push the protection sleeve forward (1) to within 10mm of the white
mark on the cooler line (2). NOTE: View of cooler line from under
car.

Check the star shaped rubber bushings on the cooler lines by the
left front motor mount bracket (1). The locking section of the
bushing needs to point towards the motor mount bracket.

Correct position of the star bushings (1).

Attach the cable strap (zip tie) at position (1) and tighten. Only
tighten the cable until there is at least 10mm distance between the
cooler line and the output shaft.

Trim the cable strap and reinstall the underbody protection plates.

Sublet reimbursement calculation for claiming the “used quantities” of repair-related bulk materials (BMW part
numbers) is at dealer net plus your center’s handling.
Enter this material cost in sublet and itemize the amount on the repair order and in claim comment section.
One gallon (3.78 liters) of Antifreeze/Coolant provides 2 gallons or 8 quarts (7.57 liters) when mixed with water
to create a 50/50 recommended mixture (Bulk container reference P/N 82 14 1 467 704).
And, as applicable:
Alternative Mobility Solution (AMS) for Vehicle Owners
This Service Action repair qualifies for Alternative Mobility Solution (AMS) expense reimbursement, claim this
item under the Defect Code noted above as follows:
• Sublet Code 2 - Itemize the AMS sublet amount on the repair order and in the claim comment section.
