PROCEDURE:
1. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the “OFF” position.
2. Open the rear exterior engine door.
3. Open the engine belt guard.
4. If necessary, raise coach in accordance with the New Flyer Service Manual.
5. Inspect the area between the water pump belt and the street side of the rear engine mount for interference as
shown Figure 1.
6. If belt contact is evident on the engine mount proceed to Step 7, if no contact is present go to Step 9.

WARNING: DO NOT cut the drive belt to remove it as the spring loaded pulley will snap back
violently. This could result in personal injury or damage the pulley stop and render it
unserviceable.

NOTE: Use a ¾” breaker bar to rotate the tension pulley upwards and relieve belt tension.

7. Release the belt tension, remove and save the water pump belt for re-installation. See Figure 2.

8. Grind off approx.1/8” layer of material from the engine mount at the location of the belt interference, see Figure
2. Ensure that the finished surfaces are smooth and the corners are round. Apply a coat of zinc primer p/n
638699 to any bare metal once complete.

9. Remove all tools and debris and return the bus to service condition.
10. If necessary, lower coach in accordance with the New Flyer Service Manual.
11. Open the rear exterior engine door.
12. Open the engine belt guard.
13. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the “ON” position.
