General Information
On some New Cascadia vehicles, the rain tray can warp and leave gaps, which can allow water to get past the
seal and leak down the front wall. From March 21, 2018, foam tape has been installed between the rain tray
and the nosebeam to prevent water leaks. On vehicles built before March 21, 2018, if water is found to get past
the rain tray, use the procedure in this bulletin to install the foam tape.

Procedure
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the tires.
2. Make sure that the wiper blades are parked. If necessary, park them by turning the wiper switch on and
then off with the ignition key in the "ON" position.

NOTE: There are index marks on the windshield to show the location when the wiper blades are
correctly parked.
3. Open the hood.
4. Remove each wiper arm, as follows:

Disconnect the wiper motor electrical connector. See Fig. 1. Gently pry the locking clip up, and pull
the connector out.

Using a wiper arm puller tool, remove the wiper arm from the drive shaft.

5. Remove the fasteners that attach the HVAC fresh air intake to the bottom of the rain tray. See Fig. 3.

6. On the passenger side, remove the screws that attach the cowl panel to the end of the rain tray and the
hood support.
7. Remove the screws that attach the rain tray to the cab front wall.
8. On the passenger side of the vehicle, pull the cowl outboard and remove the rain tray.
9. Apply foam tape to the nosebeam as shown in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5. Align the tape along the tops of the
nosebeam nutserts, extending 2-3/8 in (60 mm) outboard of the outboard nutserts on both sides of the
vehicle.

NOTE: Replace the seal between the rain tray and the cab if damaged during removal of the rain
tray.
10. Position the rain tray over the HVAC fresh air intake and the windshield wiper posts.
11. Install the center screw, then install the remaining screws from inboard to outboard. Tighten the screws 8 to
12 lbf·ft (11 to 16 N·m).
12. On the passenger side, install the screws that attach the cowl panel to the end of the rain tray and the hood
support. Tighten the screws 4 to 6 lbf·ft (6 to 8 N·m).
13. Install the fasteners that attach the HVAC fresh air intake to the bottom of the rain tray.
14. Install the wiper arms, as follows:
14.1

Install the wiper arms in the parked position so they are aligned with the index marks on the
windshield, and install the wiper arm nuts hand tight.

14.2

Verify that the wiper blades are in the correct location, then tighten the nuts 22 lbf·ft (30 N·m).

14.3

Connect the wiper motor electrical connector.
