KNOCKING NOISE FROM RF WHEEL AREA WHEN A/C IS ACTIVATED
MODEL

I01 (i3) with Heat Pump (SA 4T9)
SITUATION

A knocking noise is heard when entering drive readiness or after driving a short distance with the
air conditioning activated. This only affects vehicles with a heat pump (option code 4T9).
Note: The noise can only be reproduced once after a restart, then the vehicle must sit
for some time before the noise can be heard again.
CAUSE

Air Conditioning (A/C) receiver/dryer located near the RF wheel well area.
CORRECTION

Program IHKA control module.
PROCEDURE

Only properly trained personnel, who have passed all applicable technical training courses,
should perform any maintenance or repairs on any Hybrid or Electric Vehicle. Work
performed by unqualified persons may result in severe injury or damage to the vehicle.
Additional information may be found in REP 61 00… Observe safety instructions when
handling electric vehicles.
Program the vehicle with ISTA/P 3.59.0 (Target I-Level I001-16-07-501) or higher.
