SITUATION

While driving, the Lane Change Warning (Blind Spot Detection) is illuminated erroneously on
either outside mirror (orange triangle) when no other vehicles are around.
CAUSE

F30 - Install the correct sensor frame
F34 - Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 3.58.0 or higher.
PROCEDURE

Duplicate the issue in the specific area where erroneous warning occurred for the customer
Specific steps for F30 with option 337 (M Sports Package):
1. Refer to Repair Instructions 66 32 020 – Removing and installing/replacing sensor for lane
change warning.
2. Remove the sensor as described, but do not replace the sensor!
3. Install the new frame around the sensor. See Parts information below. Note: If the vehicle is
equipped with a shield, remove the original frame and install the new frame listed in the Parts
section
4. Reinstall the bumper
5. Perform road test to verify issue the is resolved

1. Program and encode the vehicle with ISTA/P 3.58.0 or higher.
2. Target I-Level is F034-16-03-501 or higher.
3. Perform road test to verify the issue is resolved.
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do
not have the latest software.

Always connect a BMW approved battery charger / power supply (SI B04 23 10).

The diagnosis and repair of vehicles “arriving” with failed control modules or stored faults which
will cause them to fail during programming cannot be claimed under the defect code listed in this
bulletin.
